Privacy focused mobile phone operating system built on top of the android open source project. Produced as part of the mission of the non-profit @calyxinstitute
Everyone needs a phone. Not everyone wants governments and corporations tracking their every move and spying on their communications. @CalyxOS lets you have your cake and eat it too, with #PrivacybyDesign
@jhaagandharv 1. License verification is now needed for it to work (meaning you need a Google account and installing the app through it as well as being logged into microG)
2. The above, which now requires a new permission (this is more technical and specific though.)
📣 Great news: CalyxOS is officially back! We've just released CalyxOS 7.2.2.0 with regular security updates. Thank you for your support throughout the hiatus. If you're coming from an older version or a different ROM, a clean install is required. https://t.co/HV6eEgS1YP
@jhaagandharv CalyxOS passes Play Integrity at BASIC. Unfortunately, anything more requires approval from Google. We can't do much about it.
At the moment Play Integrity is a little broken, pending an update to microG, due to Google changing requirements to getting Play Integrity to work.
@quint_sam52167@MrNobod99691547 We aren't currently aware of any such method of recovery for these devices, otherwise we'd have some documentation on how to recover such a device, for now our best bet is informing and preventing bricked installs
@MrNobod99691547 One question, did you relock manually with your own commands, or did you let the device-flasher/web installer do it for you and then you just confirmed it?
@MrNobod99691547 and sometimes bricks devices like this, despite it logically not making sense as to why it disabled OEM unlocking.
If fastboot flashing unlock doesn't work and you can't boot, that's unfortunately, a hard brick.
@mozychan No, we did have CalyxOS memberships, with the benefit of a CalyxOS phone. However, you do not need to renew your membership to update to the new version of CalyxOS. As for our mobile data memberships, they don't need to be necessarily used with CalyxOS devices.

@Downey497333401 @WSB_Sinner_ We suggest moving to another operating system in the meanwhile. We never meant to keep people running out of date code. We put out a tutorial on how to use Seedvault to do so.

@newfieboy76 We're short staffed at the moment but working to get that going. We're also moving to the entire HSM signing situation which requires/required a lot of research, but it isn't like we could've just done it later (e.g. can't migrate signing keys for AVB), so we wanna do this right.
#FOSDEM2026 is almost here! Join the FOSS on Mobile devroom on Saturday organized by a group of custom ROM developers, OEMs, and app builders including us. Deep dive into 21 talks on the current state of AOSP, Linux on mobile, and mobile app ecosystem. https://t.co/9gSENLdoaG
If you are interested in specific tools, features, or apps, such as collaborative office tools, maps, photos and video recording, or push notifications, come check out the relevant talks or discuss with the speakers!
Besides the CalyxOS team, you'll find OS development teams for /e/OS, postmarketOS, and Sailfish OS. There are also teams that build FOSS app platforms, such as F-Droid and IzzyonDroid, as well OEMs including Fairphone and SHIFTphone.
