QLDer and Aussie living in Switzerland, work for World Rowing and stats man for Eastlake Cricket Club - mad for cricket, rugby league, rugby union, rowing, etc.
Cricket Australia taking a stand (however convenient) on women's cricket in Afghanistan is not mixing cricket and politics. Women's cricket is literally cricket.
Very proud of all round legend SJ Moore - admitted to the @cricketact Hall of Fame. I can't think of a better advocate for the women's game - I'm lucky to have been coached by her and happy to call her a friend #womeninsport@EastlakeCricket
Ireland now with victories over the West Indies, England and South Africa in the World Cup Super League. Showing exactly how emerging teams can benefit from more regular fixtures and better structure - making it even more damaging the Super League is being scrapped
The clue is in the name, it’s the INTERNATIONAL Cricket Council. Not the four nations council. Stop trying to make our game more exclusive when we should be expanding it
The rankings are not fit for purpose.
They are not fit for any purpose, but especially not this one.
How can the route to the ODI league be through the ODI rankings, when literally you can't get a ranking outside of the league because THE ICC WON'T COUNT YOUR GAMES AS ODIS.
The cruel farce of the Women's World Cup Qualifiers should IMO be the lead story on every cricket outlet, but suspect it will slip from view by the start of day four of the Inda v NZ men's Test.

Thailand getting to the second round of the now cancelled qualifiers but being denied both a world cup place and access to the women's championship because of their "ranking" which doesn't exist because they aren't allowed to play odis is very on brand for the icc
The financial inequalities in international cricket are being exacerbated by Covid, threatening the game's ability to remain competitive
What are the potential remedies for a broken system?
Will countries (inc the Big Three) stand together or fall apart?

🇨🇭 As the watercolour of Giovanni Salucc illustrates, cricket has been played in Switzerland since at least 1817, however, it was not until 1980 when an association was formed.

@rexfactorpod @E_R_Johnson I'll help! Choose Athelstan ;) although to be fair there isn't a wrong choice. As opposed to SF3 where there was clearly a right and wrong choice...
If your response to the Women's ODI World Cup being postponed is - good, that just means more time to play professional domestic cricket - you don't understand the reality of women's cricket.
As for the Women's World Cup? Delayed by 12 months. Despite the fact that NZ - a country that has all-but eradicated Covid - was to host it. I mean, what can you say? Yet another deeply disappointing day for world cricket. The BCCI will coin it in though, so well played them.
Interesting to to see over a few hours that the cricket twitter discourse changed from 'Banton's half-century doesn't count because Ireland aren't a proper team' to 'Ireland's win doesn't count because England played their B team'.
