@VasundharaNLP@joshraclaw I believe that the dairy industry has lobbied to disallow plant based milks from actually using the word “milk” and this is a workaround
What’s your most embarrassing second language mistake?
Mine was at a Korean restaurant in Japan. I meant to ask, “do you like makkoli (a Korean alcoholic drink)?” Instead of saying 「マッコリ好きですか?」I said 「もっこり好きですか?」
If you know you know 😅😂
I’ve never cared much about pitch accent in Japanese. Its not too important for comprehensibility, and you acquire much of it subconsciously through language use. Still, I really enjoyed this video on pitch accent, highly recommend!

Does throwing away leftover food make you feel sad?
If you're the type of person who hates waste, もったいない (mottainai) is the perfect word for you, because it articulates that sense of regret, guilt, and sorrow for wasting things.

@anarparikh Yeah I think in my dialect I collocates with another “professional” word typically, as in “work function” or “school function.” Using it alone as in “I have a function this weekend” sounds odd to me.
