@verybanksy@its__jessiee All it took was a simple “I’m not comfortable with this topic of conversation” to pivot. Stop letting these men off the hook for not having our backs. 🤮
I’m begging you, in the year 2024 Please stop infantilizing, disabled people and stop sharing inspiration porn, and treating disabled kids and adults like lessons for your life not being as bad as you. “think it is“
Watching these characters in #AQuietPlaceDayOne almost 💀 by monster numerous times to save a 🐈⬛ . Ya’ll only got one life and that little muthasucka’s got 9! Stop the foolishness!!
Where has empathy gone & why being chronically ill is painful & exhausting in Covid times 🧵. For everyone screaming that Covid is mild and we should stop living in fear and go back to “normal”… some of us don’t have that choice. Some of us didn’t have your version of /1
@Woccwontmiss @dsrk If skincare is feminine that means hitting the gym & lifting weights is masculine so you don’t want a woman who goes to the gym rt?
being pressured to lose weight for my hips (which will do nothing the actual bone is the problem) and having my meal portions get smaller and smaller and when I ask for desert items grocery shopping they won’t buy them.
Unpopular opinion: traditional therapy is woefully ill-equipped to actually address the needs of disabled people.
I remember a psychologist saying that my anxiety was my mind making up people staring at me and I had to tell her not only were they staring they come up to ask
A mask 🧵 for the Covid conscious. At a hospital clinic (in a facility that still requires masking) and nurse only wearing baggy blue under her nose. I asked politely and repeatedly for her to pull it up and explained I was immune compromised. Her reply? /1
@dontgiveafick You don’t even know the tone it was said in😂 Ya’ll put extras on it acting like she yelled at the kid. Put the responsibility where it belongs, on the parent, to know that’s a service animal and grab their kid! TF I feel like this energy would be different if she wasn’t ⚪️
This is disappointing 1. that we still have to explain to people what a service dog is… it’s not a pet & it’s not an emotional support dog. The same rules don’t apply.
2. For a creator I’ve followed for years to mention ableism for the first time I’ve seen & choose not to use…
@dontgiveafick So you aren’t ok with “passive language” that was used to protect a child from potential danger, but you are ok with the ableist language that is being used by Kim and allowed in her comment section?
@dontgiveafick But she wasn’t unkind to the child, she was snarky to the parent. There’s a big difference. Ya’ll are acting like she said some out of pocket comment to the kid when she was just doing what the parent should’ve done in the first place.
@dontgiveafick All of? Maybe you’re seeing something I’m not b/c I saw 2 sentences.. one directed at the kid saying maybe we don’t run up on strange dogs and one directed at the parent who dismissed the advice given to their child. I really want to understand where we are seeing this different
