@EddieComeaux@UCLALawReview@DrUJayakumar It's deeply concerning to learn about allegations of unfair admissions practices at Harvard, a university with such a prestigious reputation. The idea that students of certain backgrounds might be favored over others is downright despicable.
@ZacharyUCR2023@KatryaLy Hello Zach,
Great response I think you did a good job digesting the reading and making a polarizing statement of what stood out to you. I believe that these athletes are starting to get more fair treatment. @TA_ED50#UCR50
Approximately 16 percent of undergraduates at Harvard compete on one or more NCAA Division I athletic teams. This is a higher percentage than any highly selective public university and higher than all elite private schools but for a few other Ivy League schools. #ucr50@TA_ED50
@ZacharyUCR2023@KatryaLy Hello Zach great post! I think that the NCAA should have their athlete's best interests in mind. These athletes are making them comparable revenue to pro sports and the conditions these players live in are way worse. #ucr50@TA_ED50
In 2013 the concept of amateurism took a huge hit when there were multiple stories of college football players receiving money to attend a certain school. This forced the NCAA to share some profits with the players. #ucr50@TA_ED50
@ZacharyUCR2023@KatryaLy As a student-athlete at UCR, I can tell that there is a goal to make the sports equal. Women in athletics have been forgotten about for a long time and it's only right to fight for equality. #ucr50@TA_ED50
I was blown away to hear the statistic that women coaches only hold jobs in less than 25% of jobs in college athletics. This is very unfair and I believe we should strive to get more women into coaching, especially women's sports. #ucr50@TA_ED50
@jmart758@TA_ED50 Hello, I really enjoyed reading your post. I agree women in sports do not get enough positive affirmation. Men get a ton of media attention and hefty sponsorship deals that are often not made available to women. #ucr50@TA_ED50
Intercollegiate athletics is a great example of diversity within a collegiate institution. Participating in athletics will lead you to interact with people from all different diverse backgrounds. These experiences will help mold you for the future. #ucr50@TA_ED50
@ZacharyUCR2023@KatryaLy Hey Zach great post! Student-athletes have so much on their plate and have to balance all different facets of their day-to-day lives. #ucr50@TA_ED50
Being a student-athlete is not easy. The balancing act you have to do to handle all of your academic and athletic duties is not easy. It can be hard but you have to get a routine and stay dedicated. #ucr50
I was really shocked to find out that the total funds the NCAA put into athletics last year was $850 million. I knew it was a lot of money but not that much. #ucr50@TA_ED50
