Quick PSA to those saying "All Lives Matter": STOP SAYING IT. We know that all lives matter, but for starters all lives don't matter until black lives matter too, hence the phrase "black lives matter." Also, all lives matter only became a phrase to deter from the phrase
Since some people seem to be misunderstanding my point, let me make this very clear:
I am not defending Perez Hilton. I am not asking anyone to forgive him, like him, support him, forget his past behavior, or feel compassion for him themselves.
I am talking about Jared.
Jared did not excuse anyone’s past actions. He did not endorse them. He did not tell anyone else how they should feel. He saw another human being struggling and chose to respond with compassion.
You are completely free to say, “I personally cannot have empathy for that person.” What I don’t understand is turning around and attacking Jared’s character because he can.
Empathy is not endorsement.
Compassion is not absolution.
Kindness is not approval.
You can hold someone accountable for the harm they have caused and still not celebrate their suffering. Those ideas are not mutually exclusive.
And if Jared choosing kindness toward someone you believe doesn’t deserve it is very telling” about his character, then yes: I suppose it is. Just not in the way some of you seem to think. ❤️
Have we considered a lifelong Accelerated Reader program where grown adults in their 30s and 40s can get free movie tickets and better airline seats if they read books
rape is not a crime that should be allowed no jail time. rape is not a crime that should be allowed no jail time. rape. is not. a crime that should be allowed no jail time.

“Why are folks getting dumber?” Because they don’t read. “Why aren’t men as romantic & poetic as they used to be?” Because they don’t read. “Why are people so vulnerable to propaganda?” “Why is everyone a conspiracy theorist?” Because they don’t read. Because they don’t read.
Genuinely pretty fucking gross to say “it’s just a vampire movie” “it’s not that deep” about a movie where the characters explicitly talk about their struggles and fears living in the post-slavery south
Neo-soul is Black music. There's so much of our cultural identity in those songs.
The genre was built by folks like D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Raphael Saadiq, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, etc, so to lose two of them in one year is absolutely devastating.
