@iWomansplainer Depends on the age of the toddler. But really, it's probably fine to do multiple nights. Something could happen at any time, they didn't only happen when you go away on a trip. If you like the friend enough to want to celebrate with her, then maybe go.
@BeckyTheChicken I've seen people say their ears or brains need a break/are tired.
Set aside a specific time where she just gets your attention and you're fully engaged in whatever she's talking about.
Start teaching about consideration. Her needs/wants aren't the only thing that matters, etc.
@homemakinghunny My initial thought is that it would be good to find moments to give them control. Within reason. Power struggles happen with mine because there's something they want/need that they're not getting
@tanpukunokami Some of us mean it. And will qualify where any limitations are.
Some don't mean it and it's politeness.

Then, people from these two different kinds of families marry each other. Well, that's what happened to me anyway.
@Romy_Holland Just keep offering things. Give at least one thing you know he'll eat for sure. We doesn't a couple of years with the oldest being picky. Kept everything low pressure. He's eating things now and will try a new thing with less resistance
@GreatLakesWife_ Some kids are just hard to figure out. Some of them really just don't sleep as much. I used an app to track naps to try to catch any patterns.
My oldest had me feeling this way. Eventually, I just let go of expectations, just did what I could when I could.
@GreatLakesWife_ I try to pick foods that aren't as messy even I can. Currently drawing a blank on examples. But if I mix yogurt and applesauce, that's usually a dinner thing. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, stuff that's not so wet for other meals
@GreatLakesWife_ Each baby is different about sleep. My oldest was hard. And could tell when I was trying to strategize toward something and would revel against it. Some of them just wake up more, nurse more, and/or sleep less.
@BowTiedMarmott Quite a few kids don't show up to the parties I invite them to. Their parents are 50/50 on if they invite us to a party. However, they will show up to someone else's party, someone we both know, who has known them for less time 🤷🏾♀️
@GreatLakesWife_ After the first baby, it's on silent usually. Also, I like to personalize ringtones and that's harder now than it used to be.
I'll probably be transitioning out of having a silent phone in the next few years. But a middle of the night text isn't going to wake me anyway
@GreatLakesWife_ What irritates me about this is that people just won't respond. It's not hard to say, "that day doesn't work, what about this day"
It should be a conversation, not just radio silence. I just take my kids to do things bc people ignore me
@GreatLakesWife_ Two adults, 3 children (school age, toddler, baby)
Minimum goal is twice a week. When I'm really getting things done, one load a day except Sundays
@GreatLakesWife_@callunas_ Specifics have been helpful for me when trying to get my husband to understand something. Just because he doesn't think you're too busy, doesn't mean you have to just go with it. You're living this life TOGETHER.
