More than two million people in America are amputees, and some of these individuals use prosthetic devices. For the next activity, the campers will design and build their own prosthetic. Right now they are brainstorming ideas for their device!
It is Day 1 of the last week of CampBioE, and this morning the campers are delving into body mechanics! Right now, they're dissecting a chicken leg to explore its anatomy and learn more about its function.

Finally, we have Samil! He’s a rising junior studying bioengineering with a focus in medical product engineering at Pitt. Outside of school, he’s the Public Relations Chair for Engineers Without Borders. He enjoys volleyball, basketball, and video games, and watching TV & movies.
We are hosting the @CrossroadsFdn for a mini camp. This year's theme is Alien Invasion, and some poor aliens lost a few teeth so we're 3D printing a crown for those missing chompers!
Here's our camp manager, Patricia! She’s a rising senior biology major at Pitt. It is her fourth year with CampBioE and her second year as the camp manager. In her spare time, she likes to read, hang out with family and friends, and watch movies.
Here’s Oreoluwa! She’s a rising junior in bioengineering at Pitt. She’s specializing in biomechanics and pre-med. In her free time, she loves to play soccer, sleep, and compose music – she sings and plays the piano and cello.
This is Grace! She’s a rising senior bioengineering student on the medical product engineering track with a minor in industrial engineering at Pitt. In her free time, she loves to try different kinds of foods, spend quality time with friends, and binge on Netflix!
Here's Emma! She’s a rising senior at Pitt, majoring in bioengineering with a minor in chemistry. Outside of school, she enjoys swimming, making food with friends, exploring the city of Pittsburgh, watching Grey’s Anatomy, as well as going down the shore (NJ-born and raised!).
Up first is Dana, a bioengineering major in a pre-dental track with a certificate in innovation and design at Pitt. She's from a suburb just south of Chicago and her hobbies include knitting, needlepoint, and all things crafty!
