It’s not the typical August vacation, but I’m glad my parents were able to come help me with my move out of Wichita. It’s almost time to return to the Panhandle!
I probably won't be posting very much weather information in between my move. I'll occasionally post Hailey pictures, though. Also, I didn't get to respond to all e-mails before my KAKE e-mail was shut off. So I apologize if you didn't get a response from me.
My final day at KAKE. I shared a brief video last weekend, but this one felt much more significant since it was truly my last day. Thanks for everything, KAKEland!
We did score a little rain in Wichita, about 0.10"...it's better than nothing. The morning showers left quite a bit of rain cooled air across Eastern KS, we'll see how much it slows our warming. Western KAKEland will be much warmer. Enjoy it...triple digits are coming back soon.
Hasn’t been a lot of severe weather today but I did mention the threat of supercells earlier. Now we have an embedded supercell trying to produce a tornado North of Spearville. Storm is moving NE at 30mph.
Storms are no longer warned & quickly losing steam as they move East. A large outflow boundary is racing away from the storms. IF the outflow gets too far away, it can greatly weaken the storms. Based on current radar trends, decaying storms should reach Central KS overnight.
Large thunderstorm complex from this AM has left a lot of rain-cooled air; it's an absolutely beautiful July day for much of KAKEland. Some good rains last night, mainly outside our area. Now we shift focus to tonight's event; some severe weather is possible out West.
Here's a clip of my on-air goodbye. It was short, & I fumbled a bit...but that's how it goes. I'll still be doing the 3/4pm shows through Friday. I might do another goodbye on my actual last day at KAKE, July 24th.
It's a hot day with temperatures in the 90s; some spots are close to the 100s. As expected, there are spotty showers across Central into Eastern KS. Monday looks much hotter with highs near 100F. Wichita MAY see its first 100 of 2026! Stay cool, friends!
@mily_299 I appreciate the kind words. I always try to tell people how it is. Just raw information, I can’t stand hyperbole. People who HYPE up weather events are doing the public a disservice. I’ll never be that person.
Got some cloud build-ups & a few showers near the KS/OK line. Just had some light rain with a mainly clear sky a bit ago at the KAKE Studios. Spotty showers & isolated storms will be possible in South Central KAKEland; otherwise, it's another warm & humid day!
Most of this week has been in the lower 90s. However, it will get much warmer by the weekend & into early next week. Looks like our first real run of triple-digit heat in Wichita! Despite being mid-July, we still haven't hit the 100s yet, but that will likely change by next week.
Right on cue, spotty hit/miss showers & storms. Rather isolated in coverage but a few might score a little rain today. One more round of mornings…see y’all dark & early.
The good news is that you can follow me to my next locale! That's the beauty of the internet & social media. A lot of people from Amarillo still follow me to this day. I'm hoping that is the same with my KAKEland following.
Today starts my final 10 day stretch at KAKE, I’ll be working everyday until my last day, July 24th. Mornings the rest of this week, my last weekend show followed by covering some evenings next week. I’ll see y’all on TV!
