Police Association of Ontario’s Statement on the Inspector General of Policing Province-Wide Inspection on Police Integrity and Anti-Corruption Practices
Ontario’s Inspector General of Policing, Ryan Teschner, announced an independent province-wide inspection into the ability of Ontario's police services and boards to prevent, detect, respond to, and fortify their organizations against corruption and to ensure integrity.
There is no evidence of widespread police corruption across Ontario. Our members are dedicated, hard-working professionals who serve their communities with pride and professionalism every day. We fully support our members throughout the province and recognize the importance of independent, transparent oversight. We are committed to reviewing all recommendations upon completion of the inspection.
To paint all our members with the same brush is not fair to the thousands who come to work every day to ensure the safety and security of our communities. Throughout this process, we stand united with our 33,000 members across Ontario.
We sat in grief yesterday at Sebastian’s visitation. He made the ultimate sacrifice for the country he loved. We are indebted to his family for giving their son to Canada so we continue to have our privileges. We will continue to speak Sebastian’s name.
