I travel, read and rant about world culture & history.
Attempting amusing thoughts.

I started with the Flickr app almost 18 years ago but then got carried away.
I just hit 25 million photo views from 44 thousand photos! https://t.co/qKjHmgK5LM
Americans back Ukraine over Russia by a staggering margin of 66% to 3%. Even MAGA voters favor Ukraine by ten to one. This overwhelming American public support for Ukraine makes Trump's pro-Russian position look all the more inexplicable and suspicious
The involuntary guttural sound Trump makes is a symptom of his Frontotemporal Dementia causing the loss of neurological and muscle control. Caregivers and family members frequently hear these sounds from patients. Note how both arms suddenly jerk and his face contorts. He's a mess. The drugs he's getting pumped with are extending the spectacle of his public decline.
@HQNewsNow No, you don't. You are the attorney General for the United States of America, not the president of the United States. How is it possible? We are still letting these people run our country when they could all be impeached. He should be disbarred for that comment.
@Acyn Have anyone here visited the imperial Summer Palace outside Beijing? No bling, no gold, no marble. The gardens are simple sublime good taste.
(Also most colossal waste of government resources ever). #China https://t.co/0E6XKWkvF7
@donnyjkimball Long time since I visited Japan but highlight was my JR pass travel. In March 2000, I did 5000 KM in a week. I'd start day with local trips / sightseeing. Then after a Shinkansen trip I would spend the night in a completely new region. Visited 3 islands. https://t.co/o1oqWsbFdF
@DB3235172852461@factpostnews Also all the officers would have convened an emergency meeting where they took turns praising the captain's intelligence.
@factpostnews If the Titanic captain had turned around overnight and then waited until dawn to sail thru iceberg alley, he would have lost his job but saved many lives.
I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain.
Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war.
The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world.
And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing?
That's right, almost nothing.
Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady.
Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive.
Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion.
I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner.
But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."
Top Trump Aide Steve Witkoff, to Vladimir Putin:
"You talk so much about Trump being a humanitarian, you are a humanitarian also, sir. I salute you, and I commend you."
@Michael84629413 I think the Front has come to us in Canada. I am old and fat but if Putin or Trump sends troops to Saskatchewan, I'll be smiling and saying "Yassir" to their face while setting booby traps behind their backs.
@bradcran So when does the name of A.B. get revealed? Everyone remotely involved must know who she is. Surely if her allegations are baseless there are no reasons to keep her secret.
