19 years ago today, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama received the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honour the United States Congress can bestow.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message that day was compassion, non-violence and dialogue built on mutual respect. It still guides us. Today we honour His Holiness and stand with Tibet.

We are deeply shocked and concerned by the news of a firebomb attack on the Office of the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in South Africa.
The Canada Tibet Committee strongly condemns this violence. We urge South African authorities to conduct a full investigation, including into any political motive. An office devoted to nonviolence and compassion should never have to operate under threat. @GovernmentZA https://t.co/yrkObGaZbI
Beijing turns AI against Tibetans worldwide, writes ICT Chairman Richard Gere in the @WSJ
“For decades, China’s repression of Tibetans has involved controlling physical space: monasteries, schools, communities… AI threatens to undermine the protection gained from going abroad,” Gere says.
A recent report from Anthropic makes it clear: Artificial Intelligence is extending China’s oppressive reach to previously protected spaces around the world.

Deeply saddened to hear of the devastating flash floods and mudslides along the Tibet-Nepal border. The news of casualties and widespread destruction in Kyirong County, Shigatse (Tibet), and in Nepal, and of the hundreds still missing, is heartbreaking.
On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and to all those affected by this catastrophe. I pray for the safety of all those missing. 🙏🏼
We have been following reports of the devastating mudslides and flooding in Kyirong (Chinese: Gyirong) County, Tibet and Nepal’s Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected on both sides of the border — families who have lost loved ones, the many who remain missing or injured, and the communities confronting this unfolding disaster.
We hope for the swift and safe rescue of all those still trapped or unaccounted for, and we commend the brave responders and local communities undertaking search and rescue efforts in extremely difficult circumstances. While Nepal is providing timely information and avenues for international humanitarian assistance, we hope that, in Tibet, disaster relief efforts will be accompanied by timely and transparent information and unhindered access for humanitarian support.
Three pillars of the Central Tibetan Administration, including the Executive -Kashag led by @SikyongPTsering; Legislature – Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, led by Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang; and Judiciary – Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission, led by Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo, came together yesterday to commemorate and honour the 49th day of self-immolation for Tibet by Pawo Lobga Ranzen at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on July 2nd.
