It seems import. that "relationality requires care" and "attention" (Hayles). Ethics gets involved here, and choice #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

I like def. of cyborg as "densely packed condensations of worlds, shocked into being"--makes it feel so compressed and about space#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

Haraway is trippy...especially with Strawberry Fields Forever in the background. #altrhet12

I'm wondering if Chambliss' focus on quality and lateral positioning fits with Ingold/scope discussion from last week? #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

as grad students, I'm sure we all relate to the concept of excellence as mundane:-)That being said, Chambliss is pretty convincing#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

did anyone else imagine a creepy world of plants watching over us as they read Ingold's article for this week? #mystrangemind #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

I also like the idea of "languaging" (232) as a verb. Reminds me of Ingold and Wayfaring(finding) #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

"communication takes place each time there is behavioral coordination in a realm of structural coupling" (196)--interesting#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

fatalism doesn't quite apply, tho, since social structures are formed through couplings, which we could say are kairotic and fluid#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

love the idea of the social as biological...but it does make "the way things are" feel a bit fatalistic #althret12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

So do we now live in an age of "skills" or "technology?" #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

seems like smartphones illustrate his point that in premodern societies there was no tech. because it was built in to action #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

in the age of smartphones, dos Ingold's obersvation that tech. and the social are viewed as external to one anther still apply?#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

Was anyone else completely unconvinced by Clark's responses to the "dangers" of embodiment in ch 7? This seemed like a cop-out. #altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

"biological systems profit" from "environmental structure."Again, ethics?? Clark's language harbors some pretty hefty assumptions#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

why are we so hestitant to dispose of a "privileged user?"Why can't we accept that we may be a "shifting coalition of tools?"#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

thought control reminds me of non-conscious intent article 3.29. So much is non-conscious, but there is still intent (agency?)#altrhet12

[Candis Bond @CandisBond]

thought control experiments raise questions of agency!Who is doing what? Where does agency originate and how is it carried out?#altrhet12
