Celebrating July's Birthstone β Ruby. β€οΈ
When most people think of a ruby, they picture a faceted red gemstone. But some of the world's most remarkable rubies look completely different.
The Rosser Reeves Star Ruby is famous for its natural six-rayed star, created by tiny needle-like inclusions within the gem. Rather than being cut to maximize sparkle, it's polished into a cabochon to showcase one of nature's most fascinating optical effects known as asterism.
Thinking about a career in gemmology? Learn more about the courses that can help shape your path in the field at the CGA Open House β happening next week, on July 9!
