@10_ch_10 Paradox could avoid this problem by making their games forever games, monetized through their games pass and DLCs. Why do we need a Cities Skylines 2? Just keep releasing DLC and slowly improving the underlying game engine. It's worked for ten years. Do the same for EU, etc.
@10_ch_10 It's tough to evaluate whether this is a real signal or not, since releasing unfinished games has been Paradox's style for 20 years. Have they released any games that didn't have bad reviews around release?
Why are Coke's bottlers still independent? $KO has a PE (TTM) of 22.5, while its bottlers have much lower PEs: $FMX 10 $COKE 12 $KOF 14 $CCEP 15
Obviously Coke's net income margins are much higher, but ROTC isn't that much better. Why not buy all the bottlers with stock?
Since everyone is talking about buybacks, one reform I would actually like to see is increased transparency on the timing of the buybacks. Every morning when markets open, we should know exactly how many shares are outstanding. A Form 4 for buybacks should be required.
@astridwilde1 "Before giving effect to any payments of severance or related costs, the Company expects to hold approximately $5.7 million cash and cash equivalents as of April 28,2023"
The last filing showed $9.3 in cash, so current quarter cash losses = $2.7M?
Market cap at $6.2M
@DicksonPau@modestproposal1 And I think they're guilty of it (e.g. the way they pushed Teams). I think it would be better for Microsoft shareholders and society it were split into parts (I also think Google and Amazon should split up too). https://t.co/RkSugvnQV7
@here4fintwit@astridwilde1 AI could potentially increase the size of top of the funnel (now everyone can make a comic), which could give them more leverage at step 2. But I wonder how much people will want comics (from new/unknown IPs) when they can just create their own using AI.
@here4fintwit@astridwilde1 Potentially. I can see the case for it. Their funnel is:
1. Find new comic talent
2. Sign them to their first deal on favorable terms (IDW controls IP)
3. Use existing sales channels (from leveraging leased IP) to market new titles
4. Exploit IPs with potential
@DicksonPau@modestproposal1 Which is what? Windows? Azure? Plenty of other companies build their products off those platforms without being subsidiaries of Microsoft. The main synergy is in enterprise sales: they were able to drive adoption of Teams by giving it away with Office and Azure sales.
@AltaFoxCapital Why structure incentives this way instead of just providing RSAs or stock options, which have the same incentive but (presumably?) better tax treatment?
@SleepwellCap I don't understand the reasoning behind having bonus compensation tied to mandatory stock purchases. Why not just give RSAs or stock options? Isn't the tax treatment better? Maybe Canada has different tax laws for bonus payments.
