The scam:

• Bought expired/near-expired stock at throwaway prices.
• Erased manufacturing & expiry dates using chemicals.
• Printed fake dates with a fresh 6-month shelf life.
• Repacked products with counterfeit brand stickers.

Products included:

• Maggi
• Bournvita
• Horlicks
• Thums Up
• Fanta
• Paper Boat juices
• Ghee & other beverages

The fake products were allegedly supplied across Delhi, UP, Bihar, and Punjab, & even on e-commerce platforms.

Police seized counterfeit goods worth over ₹20 lakh 🤐

30 year old Abhishek M.R. from Bengaluru, who is an advocate, booked 3 tickets for Sam Bahadur.

Actual movie started: 4:30 PM

25 minutes of continuous ads.

He sued PVR INOX and BookMyShow, saying it wasted his time and disrupted his work.

The Consumer Court agreed:

• ₹20,000 compensation
• ₹8,000 legal costs
• ₹1 lakh fine on PVR INOX
• Movie tickets must clearly mention the actual movie start time

Then he built 121 fake Android apps that looked exactly like:

• SBI
• PNB
• Axis Bank
• Aadhaar
• PM Kisan
• RTO Challan

He rented these malware-infected APKs to cybercrime gangs for ₹15,000/month per app.

Victims who installed them unknowingly gave hackers access to:

• OTPs
• Screen mirroring
• Banking credentials

TOTAL SCAM = ₹64.38 Cr.

He was finally arrested when he came to a hotel to meet his girlfriend 🤐

A man named Lal Babu Ram was once a real Bihar Police constable and being dismissed in 2022.

Then, he created his own fake STF team.

• Recruited 4 members (including Home Guards)
• Gave them police training
• Used police uniforms & SUVs with "POLICE" stickers

Their scam:

Promise to triple people's money.

When victims arrived with cash...

The fake STF would "raid" the spot and seize all the money.

Everything was going smooth…

Until 2 members fought over the loot & one of them walked into a real police station to complain.

Police arrested all 5 members & recovered:

• ₹1.81 lakh cash
• 3 fake police SUVs
• Uniforms, batons & fake nameplates
