I was recently able to visit Hawk Mountain Ranger School where our @CivilAirPatrol cadets learn valuable wilderness search and rescue skills. These cadets are learning about land navigation. Awesome program! Awesome people!

Civil Air Patrol sponsors an award each year for the Air Force Academy graduating senior who is top performer in the Department of Military and Strategic Studies. Cadet Harley Morgan won the award this year. He will be going to Georgetown for his advanced degree. Congratulations!
This morning I was honored to present the CAP award to Air Force Academy graduating senior Campbell Mandela Anderson. Not only is he the top CAP graduate in his class, he is #1 overall! Hailing from Batavia NY, he's off to grad school and a bright future. Well done!
Thursday evening I was honored to present the Silver Medal of Valor, CAP's highest honor, to Major Randy and Lieutenant Kelli Hammit. A year ago they ran into harms way during a mass shooting. Pictured with them is one of the individuals they saved. Well done!

Today Civil Air Patrol bid farewell to Col Carolyn A. Guertin. A charter member of @vawgcap, she joined on 12/1/41 as Cadet no. 11 and served continuously for nearly 79 years! A beautiful online tribute was held tonight to celebrate a life well lived. You will be missed. RIP.
