A black 21-year-old is accused of targeting a 90-year-old white Navy veteran in Houston because he did not think the old man would fight back.

Two years ago today, Nelson Beckett was in the parking lot of Lone Star Living on Westbrae Parkway with a shopping cart.

Prosecutors say Kyliel Denzel Arceneaux jumped a fence, walked up, pistol-whipped him, sho*t him, went through his pockets, stole the car, and drove over Beckett’s body on the way out.

Beckett still fought. He called for help. Two witnesses tried to step in. Prosecutors say Arceneaux pointed the same g*n at them.

A neighbor, Rod Boson, said, "They say he put up a good fight. That’s when he got sho*t. As the suspect backed up, he hit [the victim]."

Harris County prosecutor Chandler Raine told the court the defendant "struck the complaint several times with his firearm before sho*ting him fatally and continued to strike him after that before robbing him."

Then he ran him over. Beckett d*ed of a g*nshot to the lung and the trauma from the car. He left five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arceneaux was out on bond. Fort Bend records show he had been pulled from a pretrial diversion program, missed court, had the bond forfeited, then got it reinstated on August 6, 2024.

Bond conditions included committing no new crimes. Four days before Beckett was k*lled, he is separately accused of robbing a University of Houston student at g*npoint in a dorm.

After the carjacking, police say he dumped Beckett’s car on Dunlap Street and tried to wipe blood and fingerprints off it.

Gov. Greg Abbott helped push the tip reward to $15,000. A judge set more than $7 million bond and called him an extreme danger.

He is charged with capital m*rder and still awaiting trial. The cameras moved on after the arrest. The 90-year-old veteran is still de*d.

Let's ignore the condescending tone of "has been repeatedly reminded". I had to watch people like this LIE to my face, that the faint gusts of wind I felt on my face as I watched my home burn down were "hurricane force winds". I watched these clowns LIE and say I lost everything because aircraft couldn't fly due to these nonexistent "hurricane winds", even as I watched a dozen aircraft fly the fire all day. While you ignore the ignitions, you have to lie about the weather's role in the destruction.

I've given little Edgar a pass because in his community, they had monster winds, but Altadena is 30 miles from the Palisades, and it was a completely different fire for us. Climate change doesn't worsen fires. WEATHER does. And right now, despite all the climate change, the weather has been putting a lid on fire season in California. You guys conveniently distinguish between "weather" and "climate" when the weather is inconvenient for your propaganda, and then immediately conflate the two when it serves your needs. You constantly point to individual fires as evidence of climate change, but whenever someone points out the other factors, you lose your minds. This isn't science, this is an ideological cult.

Ignore the fact that 50 years of unmanaged brush made the Palisades fire unstoppable. Ignore the fact that decades of cutting our fire department budget made the destruction inevitable. These people now pretend that ignitions don't matter. How can you pretend to be a scientist, but ignore the basic math of more ignitions = higher likelihood of catastrophe? A communist lit my hillside on fire, then the LAFD forgot to put it out. SCE lit your hillside on fire. If those human ignitions didn't happen, our towns are both still standing, regardless of the climate, and you no longer have a soap box from which to cry about the rains being a couple months later than normal. Spare me with your pretentious bullshit. Why don't you let these bums light their mattresses on fire around the ECNA around those freshly cured grasses that filled the burn scar, how does that sound? You know...since ignitions don't matter.

COLUMBIA LAW PROFESSOR DANIEL RICHMAN’S LEGAL EXPOSURE + 'SPECIAL GOVERNMENT' EMPLOYEE CONNECTION

According to FBI records declassified by @FBIDirectorKash in 2015, then Director @Comey got Richman hired at the FBI. 

Richman’s responsibilities included protecting and burnishing the FBI and Comey’s public image.

The records state, ”In 2015, Comey instructed the FBI to hire (Daniel) Richman (a Columbia University Law Professor) as a Special Government Employee and to grant him a Top Secret clearance …Comey also used Richman as a liaison to the media.”

The memo continued, “Richman contacted journalists to correct stories critical of Comey…” and Richman “had been a source” for the New York Times that “...quoted Richman several times both on the record and on background, in stories regarding Jim Comey.”

While Comey told senators, under oath in 2017, that he had never authorized anyone at the FBI to leak to the media, the records show Comey personally instructed the FBI to hire his friend, Richman,  who acted as a de facto PR media rep for Comey and his agenda.

The declassified records also reveal that Richman told investigators he spoke in January 2017 to NY Times reporter Michael Schmidt and the classified information came up in their conversation.

Richman claimed the reporter knew more detail about the highly sensitive intelligence than he did. 

While the information was of unknown credibility, it reportedly suggested that then Attorney General Loretta Lynch was somehow compromised in the Clinton email case.  Given the highly classified nature, we may never know the details.

According to the FBI records, “Richman was pretty sure he did not confirm the Classified Information. However, Richman told the interviewing agents he was sure ‘with a discount.’”

Asked what that “with a discount” means, a former senior Justice Department official, Jim Trusty told me,

“..he (Richman) has some doubts about the certainty with which he can express himself. So he's just basically saying, give me a little discount here. Don't treat it as the basis of a false statement someday.”

A false statement would be prosecuted under 18 USC 1001 which I mentioned earlier.

The highly classified intelligence was apparently a factor in Comey’s controversial decision to circumvent his boss, AG Lynch, and announce in the summer of 2016 that no charges were warranted for Clinton’s mishandling of highly classified information in her State Department emails.
