No matter who is elected California governor, the state's ambitious climate goals in state law are set to be reassessed.
With high costs and uncertain fuel supply, all top 8 candidates suggested a rethink of those goals in some way, shape or form.

Public office was never meant to be about power. It was meant to be about service.
We bring together leaders who understand the difference and actively serve communities across California.

As a bipartisan and bicameral legislative group, we are convinced that California can achieve its ambitious 2045 environmental targets without overburdening consumers and local businesses.
The new strategic roadmap prioritizes:
1) Affordability
2) Certainty
3) Comprehensive Cost Analysis
4) Legislative Oversight
By championing features like free allowances to protect jobs and demanding transparent economic assessments, we aim to ensure that California's environmental leadership remains sustainable and cost-effective.
Thanks to the bipartisan California Problem Solvers Caucus, the authorization of E15 fuel will bring major financial relief to California drivers, saving households roughly $200 annually and up to $2.7 billion statewide.

California Just Received Its Last Drop of Middle Eastern Oil.
Nothing else is en route. California sits on over 1 billion barrels in proved oil reserves and produces about 250,000 barrels a day. Our refineries can handle 1.4 million. Instead 60 percent comes from foreign imports because decades of policy decisions made it impossible to produce our own. This crisis was not inevitable. It was chosen. #FixCalifornia

AB 35, authored by @AlvarezSD, co-authored by @SenValladares and @AsmAnamarie, and endorsed by the California Problem Solvers Caucus, is designed to cut through bureaucratic red tape. The legislation exempts Proposition 4 programs from the APA's duplicative requirements, ensuring that vital environmental funds can be distributed rapidly rather than getting stalled in paperwork. To guarantee immediate impact, AB 35 includes an urgency clause, allowing the bill to take effect as soon as it receives the Governor's signature.
California’s climate goals are ambitious. Achieving them shouldn't overburden businesses and consumers.
Recently, we urged the @AirResources to keep the program focused on reducing emissions rather than generating state revenue, prioritizing job protection and family affordability.
We've reworked the state's Cap-and-Invest program to ensure that environmental leadership remains sustainable and cost-effective. Our core principles for the programs:
1. Affordability
2. Certainty
3. Comprehensive Cost Analysis
4. Legislative Oversight
By focusing on these pillars, we are seeking a broad program extension through 2045 to encourage long-term clean energy investments.
Authored by PSC Co-Chair @AlvarezSD and PSC Member @IAmDarshPatel, AB 2117 proposes major reforms to California’s education governance system — aimed at increasing transparency, strengthening oversight, and improving accountability for public education spending.
Do you think California’s education system needs this kind of reform?
