Today the CAPS associates took a site visit to The Boulevard Senior Living. Senior living is becoming a much larger industry in today’s world, so getting to hear first hand from a fast growing business was very beneficial.

The associates in the SCC CAPS program and I got the opportunity to meet former NFL player and real estate investor Hakeem Valles. Hakeem taught the class on the importance of being self aware. Hakeem also taught the associates, “Sacrifice who you are for who you want to be”.

On Tuesday the @scccaps Associates had a networking event hosted at Alpha & Omega. The Associates were talking with many business owners about advice and potential internships. Networking events are some of the most important experiences for the Associates.
Thursday the AM CAPS associates attended a Chamber of Commerce networking event at Providence Bank. It was great for the associates to speak with business owners about their aspirations. Some associates even secured their internships for next semester!
Tuesday the AM CAPS associates had a site visit to The Meadows in Lake St. Louis. We learned a lot about what it takes to run a mall and how small businesses can work together with management to be successful. Malls are not dying, but instead transforming!
On Tuesday a bunch of the CAPS associates went to Yuppy Puppy! We learned a lot about the how they started as a business! We even got to play with the rescue dogs!
The CAPS associates visited St. Charles Community College to attend the Manufacturing Day event. It was a great experience talking large and small companies. It was eye opening how big St. Charles is booming in the manufacturing industry.
The CAPS associates had a great time visiting the City of Wentzville. We had a great time learning about the complexities of owning a business and the role the government plays in starting up a business!
We visited Spencer Road library in Saint Charles today in search of a book to start. We found a variety of books yesterday with a wide variety in business on topics from personal growth to negotiating deals. #alwayslearning#library
Joey Goone of Utopia Entertainment visited the Business strand yesterday. He talked about the importance of self-reliance, personal development, and goal setting. Very inspirational, and very valuable information.
The great Tina Asher came in and talked to us this week. She runs a business development business, Build-U-Up. The class learned how to correctly conduct an interview, and how to become more professional.
