The Falcons have more than enough cap space to offer him the contract he wants. They also posses the 8th overall pick, and compete in the NFC South, which will most likely be the NFL’s weakest division again next year.
Sources tell me that Lamar is interested in Atlanta due to its offensive scheme and roster. Jackson believes that he could improve upon the offense’s volume rushing scheme that already features young talent at skill positions in Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Tyler Allgeier.
Some personal news: I have completed a second interview for the Pittsburgh Steelers open General Manager position. I’m extremely grateful to the Rooneys and the entire @steelers organization for this opportunity. Looking forward to Super Bowl #7 soon… #HereWeGo
James Bradberry is being shopped by the Giants, and sources tell me that he will likely be released by Draft day. Teams don't feel the need to put in an offer since it is widely believed that he will be cut regardless due to cap considerations.
- Pickett/Trubisky > 39-year-old Ben
- Wallace/Witherspoon on par with aging Joe Haden
- Myles Jack > Joe Schobert
- WR room improved
- James Daniels > Trai Turner
- DL room improved
- OL room improved overall
Smart move by the Steelers. Depending on his production this coming season, they may be able to re-sign him on a cheaper deal like they did with Terrell Edmunds. If not, they can always go back to their tradition of drafting linebackers in Round 1.
@SteelersCrash There were 4 picked (prior to Pickett this year) that played in the modern NFL. I did not count Ted Marchibroda (1953) because he played before the AFL-NFL merger. Last night, Pickett became just the 6th QB taken by the Steelers in the first round in franchise history.
Kenny Pickett is in some pretty great company. The Steelers have only taken 4 other QBs in the first round in franchise history, and 3 of them are Hall of Famers (Len Dawson, Terry Bradshaw, and sooner or later Ben Roethlisberger)
