🛑Senate Pro Forma Sessions 🛑

During President Trump’s second term, Republican senators have held more than 50 pro forma sessions between February 2025 and May 2026.

These sessions involved:
❌ No votes
❌ No debate
❌ No legislative business
Just enough activity to keep the Senate technically in session.

Why does that matter?
Because keeping the Senate technically in session prevents a formal recess and prevents President Trump from making recess appointments to fill key positions across the federal government.

Republicans spent years criticizing Democrats for using this same tactic during Trump’s first term.

Now it’s our own Republicans doing it.

In total, 36 Republican senators took turns holding the gavel during these sessions.
