@ahysprotector@ThayIsTired like if this was a situation where people downloaded a bunch of fics into a drive to try to sell it or steal credit, I would totally be on the side of writers because that’s totally wrong and fucked up. But to be this angry over people sharing fics just to read is baffling
The buildable MonsterVerse GODZILLA LEGO will include 5,363 pieces and is set to release on Black Friday (Nov 27)
Retail price is expected to go for $450.

@BoJ2027945@dontdoxmebro5@AllisonESpencer i don't care to jail political enemies, i'm jailing the criminals, if they ain't criminals, then they wouldn't be in jail :)
pretty simple sweetheart
@abbotclrc now i'm not a copyright lawyer or anything but i did do entertainment law internship in law school so i've had some familiarity with it and it just really isn't gonna be something that any court takes seriously with fanfics that are free
@abbotclrc i can't even see bringing to court about copyright law over readers sharing your fics and trying to make it a legal issue without judges finding it odd, especially when nobody is plagiarizing your fic or stealing credit or making money off it, it wouldn't be taken seriously
@hyacinthusstan it's so funny for people to be complaining about people needing explicit permission to read and share their fics meanwhile they don't have explicit permission to use someone else's property to write fics
like it's so unserious to be talking about "permission"
@comsandte You aren’t helping anyone, in fact you’re just actually putting the authors and their work in trouble. But hey if you wanna screw over the authors and get them in legal trouble. Go ahead.
@BoringBeeArt@abbotclrc Fan related content has always existed within this unpredictable nebulous region of law and can be cracked down on at any time tbh
Studios and companies and stuff just don’t see a good trade off yet for doing that so they let people get away with things
@BoringBeeArt@abbotclrc Just gonna say that even under fair use, the law protecting fanfic works is kinda meh, and it’s really only not technically illegal because for the most part authors/IP owners don’t really feel like dealing with the legal fuss and bad PR and they count is good trade off
@ExaurArchives@catherinespaws nobody owes anyone anything because all this stuff is free and whining about it either way is silly and immature and unnecessary, fic authors can delete and do whatever they want, and readers can also read and share however they want
