Our department has a strong commitment to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the right of all people to live and learn in spaces free of harassment and hate. As educators, we work with the values and principles of the BC ELF to create with children more liveable worlds for all beings.
As early childhood educators, we stand behind ECEBC's position paper and the ECEBC Code of Ethics to ethical practices that hold a vision of a world that sustains life for all (ECEBC Code of Ethics, 2021).
In response to 1 Million March 4 Children protests that are scheduled to take place across Canada, ETFO strongly condemns anti-2SLGBTQ+ protests.
Any actions or events that seek to undermine the rights and dignity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community must be denounced. #onpoli#onted

while reducing barriers for those to become early childhood educators is important, and recognizing that the profession is comprised of marginalized woc, it is SO important to recognize that reducing the length or quality of the education of educators isn’t the solution
deskilling of educators through micro-credentials and curriculum that isn’t comprehensive or doesn’t respond to current conditions in ECE ensures that those in the profession are unable to grow in the field and will most likely struggle to receive thriving wages
