Today in the Czech Republic is a special day. Mikuláš (Saint Nicolas), angel and devil are visiting homes with children. Children say a poem or sing a song. They get asked if they were good all year and get rewarded with sweets. 😊

Mom and I made these incredible buns today. They can be called Honzovy buchty or Tvarohový buchty. They are filled with farmer’s cheese (Tvaroh) filling. I also took a picture of my mom’s hand written recipe. I am working on an Americanized recipe.

Křesťanský svátek, 50 dnů po Velikonocích, 10 po Nanebevstoupení Páně

Letnice vychází z židovského svátku Šavuot o předání Tory na Sinaji.
V křesťanství seslání Ducha svatého na apoštoly po Ježíšově nanebevstoupení.

Ruské vejce nepřišlo z Ruska, ale z automatu Koruna

Když tam r. 1956 procházela vejce a kazil se gothaj, tahdejší šéf Hliňák název "ruské vejce" vymyslel, aby se prošlých potravin zbavil a zajistil rychlé schválení nového hitu.

Mňamka se rozšířila nejen po ČSR, ale i v RVHP.
