@DoctorVive@RARohde Yes. Fyi, the IPCC ratio is 150GtCO2 per +0.10°C. So, trailing ten yr emissions of 400 GtCO2 will add ~0.25°C on current +1.1°C = +1.35°C (before removal assumptions). Another 450 GtCO2 through 2050 (the IPCC’s 1.6°C RCB @ 67% prob.) w/d add ~0.30°C = +1.65°C (before removal).
@MWClimateSci@DoctorVive 1,000 GtCO2 applies to CDR (BECCS/DACCS) and not AFOLU; which the IPCC projects could sequester max 400 GtCO2. Note: the (min,max) sequestration projection from the IPCC is (50GtCO2, 1,400GtCO2). Assigning 80/20% probability to this range could yield price-cost-risk measures.
@MWClimateSci@DoctorVive The IPCC AR6 put technical geological storage capacity at 1,000 GtCO2; half must be set aside for stabilizing at 350ppm. Leaving 500 GtCO2 to counterbalance residual emissions this Century. Technical constraints should inform all pro forma cost assertions and/or discussions.
@Valakay@DoctorVive@Noahpinion@Noahpinion China emits a lot; less after exports. Your W. Hemisphere map includes 600M S./C. Americans and W. Africans who avg < half China’s per capita CO2. It says little about the US. Your ‘non-offshore’ source uses national stats to make (flawed) inter-country conjectures.
