There's been nothing but excitement since the announcement of @Ronin_Network and @RagmonNFT partnership in mid-April.

Integrating web3 technology into this billion-dollar IP means users can now experience true ownership of their in-game assets. If you're going to play this game, being a Genesis Tamer IS the goal. Genesis Tamers are PFP NFTs but it's not just a PFP that you can flex. It has benefits too! Some known benefits are:

RAGNAROK IS THE BEGINNING OF VITALIK'S DREAM:

I never tire of saying that we are seeing more and more projects within Web 3.0 Gaming in general, and on @Ronin_Network in particular, that demonstrate having a significant weight of their own. The generation of an IP is a really tedious process and takes years to develop, which, considering how recent Web 3.0 Gaming is, might seem difficult. But what would happen if a Web 2.0 Gaming IP transitioned by applying Blockchain technology in its video games? It seems that Ragmon is the first answer to that question.

In this thread, we will explore why @RagmonNFT is a project that can completely revolutionize the way we understand Web 3.0 Gaming and be the first project to fully implement the qualities of MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) with Blockchain technology.

WHAT IS RAGNAROK?:

Ragnarok, a Korean-origin franchise, stands as one of the most influential in the world of video games and pop culture. Its universe expands through various forms of entertainment, from video games to anime and manhwa. At the center of this vast creation is Ragnarok Online, an MMORPG that debuted in 2002 and has left an indelible mark on the gaming industry.

Ragnarok Online is a virtual world where players have the freedom to create and develop their characters in a fantasy setting. With two distinct game models, P2P (pay to play) and F2P (free to play), the game has attracted millions of players worldwide. The P2P option, which requires a monthly subscription, offers unrestricted access and exclusive advantages, while the F2P option allows free play, albeit with the possibility of acquiring items and upgrades through microtransactions.

The heart of Ragnarok Online lies in its community and the exploration of a vast and mysterious world. Players immerse themselves in a vibrant universe, filled with mythological creatures and challenges to discover. RAGMON IS THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING BIGGER:

The new implementation of Ragnarok Online seems to align with what the Ragnarok IP has been throughout history: a flexible product that adapts to different types of games without losing its original imprint.

In this sense, Ragmon seems to use simpler elements to implement, such as classic NFT collections, a tokenization system, and a tower defense game system, a genre with a huge player base but one that has unfortunately never been well applied within Web 3.0 gaming.

The product's flexibility also ensures that the implementation of this technology does not negatively impact player adoption. If we add to that the fact that it belongs to the network that works best with video games, Ronin Network, we are looking at a project that has all the potential to be a game-changer within the ecosystem.

Outside of this preliminary analysis, in this thread I will not delve into the importance of Ragmon itself; I prefer to leave that to great content creators like @JayBeMusic10 and @SrNearly . Instead, let’s ask ourselves: What would happen if the game is successful enough to incentivize the production of a Ragnarok MMORPG?

THE CREATION OF ETHEREUM: A STORY CLOSELY LINKED TO GAMING:

It’s paradoxical how today Ronin, a network built on Vitalik’s work, could be the culmination of a long journey that started with the nerfing of a Warlock in 2009. Yes, this may seem like a bit of a hyperbole, but I think it’s important to highlight this.

In 2009, Vitalik experienced firsthand how Blizzard nerfed his Warlock, a character he had dedicated more than 4 years of work to, effectively destroying much of his progress. This frustrating and, to some extent, traumatic event under his own perspective served as a catalyst for him to question the importance of decentralized systems in various areas of life.

WOW (World of Warcraft) itself is a paradigm. Over the years, the “black” market for in-game items has allowed hundreds of people to make a living. This has always been done “clandestinely” as the monopoly of the in-game market was limited to processes implemented by the developers and the company. So it begs the question: If there is a parallel market despite the challenges due to the lack of technology for smooth exchanges, how would it function if such technology existed?

It all began with an MMORPG, and it may reach its climax with another MMORPG…

WHY ARE MMORPGs THE BEST SYSTEM FOR WEB 3.0 GAMING?:

It might be quite bold to make such a statement, but it’s true that MMORPGs have relative advantages compared to other game designs, especially regarding the possibilities of implementing blockchain technology.

• They have intrinsic economic systems built into their design.
• Players produce and generate the supply and demand for the items necessary to play.
• The generation of decentralization processes fits very well, particularly in terms of balancing and designing certain game features.
• The relationship between development teams and players seems more justified than ever.
• The useful lifespan of games extends, as there can be projects that are truly infinite in duration.

These and other characteristics make MMORPG projects within the blockchain ecosystem seem like the next step compared to games that appear to have simpler implementations. What’s interesting about Ragnarok, unlike other IPs, is that it does not focus so much on graphical exploitation but rather on sustaining a rich ecosystem that, above all, has been previously proven.

DIGITAL OWNERSHIP AND SELF-SUSTAINING ECONOMIES:

Unlike most projects where developer intervention in the economy seems extremely necessary to maintain the projects, massive MMORPGs with high player demand could be among the first self-sustaining living ecosystems. This is because the inherent dynamism of their mechanics appears to be self-sufficient and self-limiting in equal measure.

Anyone who played Axie Infinity in 2021 knows how important and challenging it is to have complex systems where moving from item A to item D consumes resources. These systems, typical of RPG games, require extensive development time and, above all, the need to make mistakes to correct them. What’s interesting about Ragnarok is that many of these implementations have already existed in its past, providing ample experience on how these systems can work with the implementation of blockchain technology.

Tokenizing items, currencies, characters, or different assets necessary within the game would allow for a truly rich interactive market. It’s no surprise to anyone that the P2P (peer-to-peer) market already exists in other video games.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The purpose of this post is to explore the possibility of expanding the world of Ragmon to new, unexplored horizons in Web 3.0 Gaming. I am confident that the development team has this in mind, and sooner or later, we will see one of the biggest projects in the history of video games—believe me, I’m not exaggerating—embark on a journey that can completely change the understanding of the video game economy.

And why not dream… if a massive IP like Ragnarok joins this ecosystem, why couldn’t other equally large IPs join in the future? For players, it’s a win-win situation.
