Members from our Special Purpose Outreach Team were proud to participate in the First Care Conference this week, connecting with first responders and providing education on harm reduction strategies.

First responders are often on the front lines of the opioid crisis and other public health challenges. By sharing practical tools, resources, and best practices, our team helped equip attendees with knowledge to support safer outcomes in the communities they serve.

At Care Resource, harm reduction is about meeting people where they are - with compassion, dignity, and real solutions that save lives.

On May 15, Care Resource was honored to host Rob Collins of The Miami Foundation, who met with our senior leadership team to learn about the impact made possible through our selection as a 2025 Community Grant: Access to Health & Wellness grantee.

As a result of this grant, Care Resource has expanded access to care by enabling nearly 100 roundtrip rides for patients and strengthening operations that support critical services - including the launch of our Midtown pharmacy and more than 750 health interactions delivered at our United for Care Health Fair.

We are grateful to The Miami Foundation for their continued support, helping advance our core mission and expand our reach.

Thank you to Rob Collins for visiting our health center and seeing firsthand how we center every aspect of our work around patient needs. We look forward to continuing this partnership in another year of impact through this multi-year grant.

Care Resource mourns the passing of Ruth Shack - a longtime community leader whose impact on Miami-Dade County will be felt for generations.

Ruth dedicated her life to strengthening South Florida through philanthropy, the arts, public service, and community engagement. During the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic - long before social media - she stood with a community navigating fear, loss, and uncertainty.

For many years, Ruth personally attended The White Party held at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, our health center’s annual fundraiser and awareness event. In powerful moments, the music would pause, and she would speak from the dance floor - offering encouragement, compassion, and a reassuring presence to all in attendance.

In her role as Chair of The Miami Foundation, she also helped guide critical social service funding to our health center, strengthening the safety net for those in need.

Her leadership brought hope and dignity during difficult times, and her lifelong commitment to others helped foster a more caring and connected community.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Thank you, Ruth Shack, for your years of service - and for shining a light when it was needed most.
