Well well well: Leaked emails show Mothin Ali got his extra local allowance “to help make ends meet” - no mention of any work he was doing for the money.
The Greens are threatening to sue us for reporting this bombshell story from @BradDeas_Journo.

I, too, received a legal letter from the Green Party’s lawyers after asking Qs last week about allegations concerning Mothin Ali’s £5,800 taxpayer-funded council allowance.
Two of the party’s own councillors allege Ali was awarded the money - intended for additional council responsibilities - after he complained the national party was not adequately supporting its leadership team.
Ali denies making that complaint, while the Greens say the allowance was for his role as a local spokesman. @wyk_exchange reports here on leaked emails which cast doubt on the party’s explanation.
The Times can reveal the row has now descended into bitter infighting: Ali’s critics have been branded racist and Islamophobic, there have been calls for the councillors who challenged him to be suspended, and members are warning the party is “toxic at the top”.

Keir Starmer was a permanently disappointed headmaster, but Andy Burnham is the worst kind of teacher: the one who thinks he can be your mate. https://t.co/BOxxyk4nl3
A reminder of the position of the Labour Party.
Lawbreakers cannot be lawmakers.
So with that, we can only assume that the Mayor of London will be resigning?
Remarkable reversal in Europe’s bond market: #Italy is now seen as the safer credit than France. The 10y Italian risk premium over France has disappeared and actually turned negative. French 10y yields now trade above Italy’s.
Putting people with zero business experience in charge of creating the conditions for growth is like putting someone who's never flown a plane as a pilot of a passenger jet.
The end result will be the same.
It really is that simple.
🚨 JUST IN: Killer, who once stabbed his grandmother to death and then set her on fire, admits to murdering his friend in Vauxhall, London, before going to the mosque to pray.
He walked into a police station and said: “It’s happened again.”
• Daniel Levy, 48, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey today to murdering Abdul Kaleem Shaik, 41, at a Lambeth flat over New Year.
• Prosecutors say he stabbed Mr Shaik in the neck, then went to a mosque, had a massage and showered before handing himself in at Bishopsgate on 1 January.
• In 2001 he was given an indefinite hospital order for the manslaughter of his grandmother, whom he stabbed and set on fire. He later absconded in 2003 and was recalled in 2013.
• Despite being diagnosed with schizophrenia, the judge found him fit to plead. Sentencing is listed for 9 September.
@wallaceme It's becoming increasingly obviously that he simply doesn't comprehend fiscal matters at all, both in terms of his language, his delivery, and the affirmative answer given to any & all Qs about spending more
Labour MP for Hastings just claimed that the loan of the Bayeux Tapestry to the British Museum is testament to the Labour Government's diplomacy with France.
It was announced in 2018.
Utter tripe - before the 2024 election, the 10-year Gilt yield traded consistently below that of a 10-year Treasury...since the election, the polar opposite...
But the circumstances of this incarceration are of little interest to victims past or future. And it is absolutely clear that within the cohort of all IPP prisoners is a significant number of people who are simply too risky to release any time soon. 3/
Locking people away indefinitely without access to the services and therapies they needed to demonstrate they could be rehabilitated was fundamentally wrong. The awful consequence is offenders made more dangerous, driven mad or killing themselves in the meantime. 2/
