The story about “taken to A&E when dying” is a familiar one - from care and nursing homes too - often overnight and at weekends when there just aren’t the community resources available.
Time for wider conversation about what is realistic at end of life? https://t.co/3gWfgukI9y
Bereavement. It affects everyone at some point in their life - it is universal but also deeply personal.
What do we really understand about the nature of bereavement? Are we, as a society, any good at handling its complexities?

🦠 Is it just a matter of luck, who gets ill with infection and who doesn't? In this new blog article I examine the true underlying factors at play.
🛡️What can we all do to reduce our own chance of ending up flat out on the canvas?

📰 With all the chat in the media right now about #AssistedDying it felt like a good time to release another podcast episode.
🗣️ I hope it helps bring some clarity as to why we need a change in the culture around death & dying, not a change in the law.

The lack of compassion in A&E so clearly articulated by @AllisonPearson is a sure sign of #burnout of staff. It goes along with poor performance and exhaustion.
Crucially, it is the *system* at fault, not individual staff who are suffering too. https://t.co/R2kK4ugS6B
Grim, but essential viewing. The true state of A&E, not just in Shrewsbury but across the UK.
The harm to patients is clear, visceral and shocking.
Less obvious is the lasting, damaging moral injury that the staff were undoubtedly experiencing every day…

@LFC I am a big @LFC@JurgenOfficial fan. I am travelling down from Glasgow for a tour of Anfield stadium/museum on Tues. Would it be possible to meet Jurgen. It would mean so much to me, especially as it'll be my birthday
@Paul20233595 The reason why white people have most of the top jobs in Scotland isn't due to racism, but because the majority of their population are white did you not know this @HumzaYousaf.
So lucky enough to get tickets for C2C 2024 @OVOHydro. Just wondering @C2Cfestival@OVOHydro why/how the same seat as this year is £80 dearer.... Does this mean more performances in the main/ spotlight stages. I'm hoping so 🤞🤠 🤞
RT if you aren’t having MPs who have been given a £20,000 pay increase over the last 12 years telling nurses, rail workers, posties and university workers that they shouldn’t demand better.
Many such patients arriving in A&E at end of life have care plans stating their preference is to die at home.
Are their wishes unrealistic? Undisclosed? Unreasonable?
I suspect not. Unless we decide that a trolley in a crowded ED is a good place to die, action is needed.
