👨👩👧👦 Man, it really doesn't feel like ED volumes are down.
We just don't have anywhere to move patients once they're in our beds, which backs up the whole system.
Not uncommon to have 50-60 people waiting in triage.
ED visit volumes fell early in the pandemic and have only partly recovered. Despite lower volumes, ED crowding has increased. This issue is magnified in psychiatric patients. https://t.co/VewnRmDSuv @DrJessePines
👀 An ophthalmology resident explained the slit lamp to me, a bone-headed ED resident, in under 90 seconds.
💡The biggest issue me and my attendings have faced? Turning the damn thing on.
