It’s time we examine education discipline policies. If it’s our last chance before incarceration for many youth, why aren’t we targeting more rehabilitative approaches? Perhaps school is the time to use community service and service learning.

I’m all for proper tax breaks but not when these happen on the backs of our poor and middle class neighbors. How can we call it a surplus when we under pay teachers and underfund child welfare? Investing in kids almost always saves money in the long run.

Things I am seeing lacking in public high school education:
1. Problem solving research skills including effective search strategies
2. Socially appropriate question asking during large group presentations.
3. Bias reflection
4. Fact checking strategies
5. Active listening

Culture-market fit does not mean that the organization is hyper-aligned with customer interests, either. CMF is determined by crafting the internal culture that wins the external market.

Part of your moral compass self check should include, how am I publicly supporting small businesses and places that are making space for kindness and inclusion.

Someday, I believe employers will do social media checks to see the type of human and consumer the person is. Racial slurs on Twitter, I hope that’s an immediate dealbreaker. Only leaving 1 star reviews for small businesses on google. Also a dealbreaker.

We have all done the scrub on Facebook, but your actions toward others and businesses on these more anonymous platforms will not forever go unnoticed.
