🚨 POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN GERMANY — MERZ'S CDU CRUSHED IN TWO STATE ELECTIONS

Germany has woken up to an extraordinary political result.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, AfD has emerged as the largest party with 38.2%.

The CDU of Chancellor Friedrich Merz?

4.9%.

Below the threshold required to enter the state parliament.

Meanwhile, in Berlin, voters moved in the opposite ideological direction.

Die Linke came first with 25.7%, while the CDU fell to 18.8% and AfD rose to 16.3%.

Different winners.

Different politics.

But one unmistakable common denominator:

Germany's traditional centre has taken a hammering.

Merz himself has described the results as a “disaster.”

AfD may have won Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but that does not mean it will govern: other parties continue to rule out coalition arrangements with it.

So the bigger question this morning isn't simply left versus right.

It's this:

What is happening to Germany's established political order?
