Harry R. Truman waves goodbye to a helicopter crew after refusing his final chance to evacuate Mount St. Helens. Three days later, on May 18, 1980, the volcano erupted, burying Truman and his lodge beneath an estimated 150 feet of volcanic debris.

Harry R. Truman was the 83-year-old owner of the Mount St. Helens Lodge on Spirit Lake, where he had lived for decades. A World War I veteran with no relation to President Harry S. Truman, he became nationally known after refusing repeated evacuation orders when the volcano showed signs of erupting in 1980.

Despite pleas from friends, officials, and helicopter crews, Truman chose to stay with his cats and the lodge he loved. On the morning of May 18, 1980, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake triggered the collapse of Mount St. Helens’ north flank, unleashing a massive landslide and lateral blast that buried Truman, his lodge, and the surrounding area beneath volcanic debris. His body was never recovered. The eruption killed 57 people and permanently transformed the landscape around Spirit Lake.

Bear cub refuses to lose another brother. A shop owner near the woods couldn’t believe what he saw on his security camera: a mother black bear walking past with her cub and a tiny fawn beside them.

Another trail camera later captured the fawn nursing from the bear. Wildlife officials believe the fawn had lost its mother, while the bear may have recently lost one of her own cubs. Her maternal instincts took over, and she accepted the deer as part of the family.

Now, whenever anyone gets too close, the bear cub reportedly rushes forward to protect the fawn. It’s as if he already lost one brother and refuses to lose another. #wholesome #animals

A homeless dog had somehow found a place near the stage.

The music was loud. The crowd was cheering. Then the pyrotechnics began.

Brazilian singer Taty Girl noticed the caramel coloured dog nearby and realized the explosions were making him uncomfortable.

So, in the middle of her show, she made a decision.

She asked her team to stop the fireworks.

The concert continued, just a little quieter, while the dog stayed close and watched.

But Taty couldn't forget him.

After the show, she began searching for the dog and checked whether he already belonged to someone. When he disappeared, the search continued until he was finally found.

Then she took him home.

She named him Caramelo and promised him care, love and plenty of pampering.

That night, Taty Girl stopped the fireworks for a frightened stray.

Days later, she gave him something even greater.

The National Guard has just SUSPENDED all 8 pilots of the Apache helicopters that flew on the "Salute to the Shore" flyover across the South Carolina coast.

No reason has been given for their suspension.

A source says as soon as the pilots landed, they got a message saying they were suspended pending an investigation.

In March 2019, Keanu Reeves boarded a flight from San Francisco to Burbank expecting an ordinary journey.

Then something went wrong.

A mechanical problem forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Bakersfield, leaving the passengers stranded more than 100 miles from their destination.

Keanu could have quietly arranged a private car and disappeared.

Instead, he stayed with everyone else.

As passengers tried to figure out how to reach Los Angeles, Keanu joined the discussions, helped with the travel plans and climbed into a shared van with the stranded group.

Then the road trip began.

At one point, he even played music connected to Bakersfield legend Buck Owens.

Passengers filmed the journey as Keanu laughed, talked and turned an exhausting travel disaster into an unexpectedly memorable road trip.

And as people were dropped off, Keanu stayed until it was his turn to leave, saying goodbye to his fellow passengers.

No red carpet.

No private escape.

Just Keanu Reeves, a broken flight and a van full of strangers making their way home together.
