@ComeconPaizuri@SankarasLawyer Definitely agree that the invasion of Cambodia was justified, but Ho Chi Minh was dead by that point you can't even claim he's responsible for that.
@ZollerF86995@strangerous10 Imagine if western governments were shutting down critique of Francos Spain by saying: "Catholics are inexorably tied to the country so any criticism of its crimes is anti-catholic bigotry actually"
That wont make anyone pro-Franco but it may very well make people anti-Catholic
@0xyM2@chocotoneman@DunkelMort This happened in a city in the West Bank that is to be under exclusive PA jurisdiction. The IDF operating in Area A in the first place is a violation of international law, and because such actions were blatantly illegal, it wasn't an arrest. It was a kidnapping
@SenatorWong It's unacceptable? Well that's good of you to say. Surely then this is the point where Australia... you know... stops accepting such behaviour? Maybe this time we'll have some consequences in place for a country that consistently engages in unacceptable behaviour?
@Zookemnukem@RightWingCope@nickshirleyy What do you mean "obviously"? Im Irish-Australian, and I don't think that either of those countries should rule anywhere that isn't Ireland or Australia respectively.
The majority of Americans think that way about America as well. These days, most of them are anti-war.
@Zookemnukem@RightWingCope@nickshirleyy Oh no, they seized Meyer Lansky's casino and Santo Trafficante's hotel! Won't someone think of the mob bosses?
In all seriousness, they did offer compensation. It was in the form of gov't bonds. Non-US companies who had property appropriated accepted, American companies didn't
@GodCloseMyA10@Zookemnukem@RightWingCope@nickshirleyy Because countries should all be playing by the same rules. Why can the US do it with Turkey, but the USSR can't do it with Cuba?
This isnt even to mention the fact that the US is much more of a rogue state than Cuba. It's just dominated so much of the world that it seems normal
@Zookemnukem@RightWingCope@nickshirleyy The US forced them to align with the Soviets by engaging in numerous acts of economic and military isolation.
Besides, If the US is allowed to have nukes to defend itself, why can't Cuba?
@franauerbach@World_Affairs11@MicheleScott12 From under US law. The thing is this is international criminal law. All it takes is a quick flight north to Canada and a change of hands and all of a sudden he's in a country that is legally obligated to ship him off to the Hague
@Emmet917045@stats_feed Alternatively, maybe noone owns the Caribbean except the people who live there and they're free to run their countries however they like?
@Zookemnukem@RightWingCope@nickshirleyy Cuba was allowed to host the missiles under international law and given US aggression it's an obvious choice
All the US had to do to not start a nuclear war was not attack or invade another country. Thats pretty easy to do for most countries, but idk maybe the US is just crazy
