I’ve said this before and I will keep on saying it: picturing Messi as the humble one is one of the stupid word a football fan can utter. Players disguises a lot you truly won’t see their true colors, only few ones are real. Just imagine Ronaldo in this situation would have been picture bad and jealous!
The word "complete" gets thrown around too loosely.
Caicedo is one of the recognized defensive midfielders in the game. His ball-winning, defensive awareness, counter-pressing, recovery pace, and ability to shield a back four are elite.
But being complete is different from being a specialist.
Tielemans influences every phase of possession. He dictates tempo, progresses play under pressure, breaks lines, switches play, creates chances, scores from distance, and consistently adds value in the final third.
He's also the more versatile midfielder. Tielemans has performed effectively as a deep-lying playmaker, a No. 8 in a midfield three, a double-pivot midfielder, an advanced midfielder, and even in wider midfield roles when required. His profile adapts to different tactical structures because his game is built on technique, vision, and decision-making rather than one standout attribute.
Caicedo is good, but his strengths are more role-specific. His best football comes as a holding midfielder or defensive No. 8, where his defensive instincts and athleticism can dominate.
If the question is "Who's the better defensive midfielder?" it's Caicedo.
If the question is "Who's the more complete and versatile midfielder?" I'd say Tielemans.🔴🔱
Jorge Salinas shouldn't be framed as the contingency if Lewis Hall doesn't happen.
They're different profiles, with different ceilings and different developmental trajectories.
If Hall is Plan A because he raises the technical and tactical level of the left side, then Plan B should aim to preserve those same qualities, not simply fill the position. INEOS shouldn’t even gamble in that defensive position, I’ll rather keep Amass or Leon to fight for that spot since we’re not going for a profile similar to hall .🔴 🔱
Since Mykhailo Mudryk joined Chelsea:
📊 Mudryk: 73 games | 10 goals | 11 assists
📊 Rashford: 112 games | 39 goals | 20 assists
Despite the criticism Rashford has received, the numbers show a clear difference in end product over the same period.
Isn’t this clear enough for you to understand that Rashford’s wages are a major factor on why he hasn’t been sold ? 🔴🔱
If United really end this window with Bruno, Mainoo, Mount, Ugarte, Tielemans, Santos and one more INEOS wildcard(hopefully a DM)... yet fans still think the midfield isn't enough, then we've completely misunderstood what wins games.
The best midfields in Europe aren't built on quantity. They're built on relationships.
Carrick's biggest job wouldn't be fitting seven midfielders into one XI, it would be creating functional rotations.
-Ugarte or INEOS secret DM secures the rest defence. -Mainoo dictates rhythm and escapes pressure. -Bruno attacks the final third. -Mount becomes the pressing trigger and third-man runner. -Tielemans controls tempo against low blocks. -Santos injects legs, ball-carrying and transition threat.
Same squad. Different opponents. Different midfield.
Elite clubs don't ask, "Who's our best midfielder?"
They ask, "Which combination gives us the biggest tactical advantage today?"
That's how you build a midfield capable of dominating Europe.🔴🔱
