@sophwilkinson This is so uncomfortable to see, I’ve had so many interactions with men like this where every time I move away to give myself more space, they just repeatedly close the gap. I can’t imagine doing this to someone who is so blatantly shrinking away, watching it makes my skin craw.
For immediate release
Glasgow has hosted it’s largest-ever Pride event with early figures suggesting close to 50,000 people attending. Organisers expected around 25,000 people with last year’s event hosting 21,000.

@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch I’m proposing nothing, I was replying with support for the original poster who was getting a lot of hate for calling out violence.
If I’m pro-choice am I helping TERFs if some of them agree with my pro-choice arguments?
Violence is bad, and you’re not changing my mind.
@MusicSolitaire I feel like this causes a lot of confusion where people don’t get why TERFs say it’s gendered but it’s because radical feminists don’t believe men should call themselves feminists, only allies, so when people say ‘TERF’ to them it could only mean ‘transphobic feminist women’.
@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch That just means they’re wrong. If someone thinks me saying ‘violence is bad’ is anti-trans then that’s just totally misinterpreting what I’ve said and is entirely on them not me. Again, you will never be able to make me change my mind on this and think it was an ok thing to say.
@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch That says nothing about me, I’m not on their side. The only opinion we share is that calling for violence is bad. Sometimes people with very different views will have some views in common.
@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch I don’t deny violence against trans people, I’m saying her words weren’t in direct response to being attacked as your tweet implied.
‘Nobody came to that event to beat people up’ is what I said, when you tried to claim her words were self defence.
@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch I didn’t say that. Nobody came to that event and started beating people up, you can’t fight theoretical violence by encouraging punching people who might harm you.
Telling a crowd to punch anyone is bad.
@_Be_not_Afraid @UnicornsRockUK @Fevrepitch I’m literally not and neither are they. I just agree with them that calling for violence is unacceptable. There’s absolutely no argument you can make that would change my mind on this either.
@D_Libris For me just the existence of ‘row zero’ is enough to put me off the band. Things are better but women really aren’t seen as equally human in this genre still because of stuff like this, it’s soooo grim. Staff picking out women like they’re products to be served ugh.
@charleybarley74 @AliMurdoch78@shadowspinner@speakoutsister I’m literally questioning and subverting gender by saying that I don’t choose my appearance to communicate my gender. Saying people do is reinforcing the idea that some clothes/hair are for men and some are for women. Society genders these things, and we should stop.
@NatiCampos87@shadowspinner@speakoutsister If I wear a short skirt, society might say it’s sexual and people might sexualise me. Doesn’t mean I’m communicating anything, I’m just wearing a short skirt. Maybe it’s hot. Maybe I have nice tattoos I want to show. Maybe I just like the skirt. Gender is the same for me.
@NatiCampos87@shadowspinner@speakoutsister Other people have expectations of how women behave, in some ways I may meet those expectations. I don’t choose to communicate my womanhood, if other people say ‘she’s doing that because she’s a woman’ it’s on them not me. I’m not expressing my gender, people are interpreting it.
@NatiCampos87@shadowspinner@speakoutsister I promise you it’s not considered acceptable, just admit you made an assumption and tweeted something snarky at me with zero knowledge of my relationship to gender/gender roles.
Also I don’t believe anyone’s tastes are formed in a vacuum. I’m saying I’m not expressing my gender.
@NatiCampos87@shadowspinner@speakoutsister Also in my actual profile picture you can see me wearing a suit when I went out to a dance with my wife as my date, I don’t know what societal messages you hear but that’s certainly not how women are told to present.
@NatiCampos87@shadowspinner@speakoutsister I once decide to reject all femininity and exclusively wore men’s clothes, but realised that actually it’s just genderless cloth and I didn’t want to restrict myself in another way. So I don’t shave or wax but just wear what I want. Trust me, I have analysed this more than most.
@RosebudLam@speakoutsister That’s really sexist and stigmatising. If you mean more revealing clothes and impractical shoes, I know plenty of cis women who like wearing them bc why not? It’s fun sometimes, it can look nice, the weather is boiling etc.
