Interdisciplinary Quantitative Biology & Computer Science PhD Student at University of Colorado Boulder ๐ป๐ฉโ๐ฌ I use math to study infectious diseases!
Many journals require submission of a "tracked changes" and a "clean" version during the review process.
If you use custom #LaTeX commands to track changes, how do you remove the commands and associated brackets at final submission?

@FoxandtheFlu@nataliexdean I heard some talk that you gave a brilliant introduction to MCMC! The words โgreat teacherโ may have been thrown around.
Iโm sure you can guess which language I use from this thread. Curious to hear what others think about these core languages, as well as any others that I left out!
๐ฉโ๐ป There are so many coding languages! Which one should I use? Here is my take on a few commonly used languages in the modeling world:
๐งฎ Mathematica is a fancy calculator that is great at algebra. I mostly use it for helping me simplify equations efficiently.
๐ Python has a slightly higher barrier to entry than R, but it is a super versatile language! Capable for modeling, data wrangling, visualization, and interfacing with web apps.
๐ C/C++ are super fast but have high barriers to entry. Many packages will be written in these!
1/ Iโm excited to share our article "Gendered hiring and attrition on the path to parity for academic faculty" with @hneutr@aaronclauset @DanLarremore, now published @eLife : https://t.co/zt6yG18aBS
What drives changes in gender diversity among faculty? Letโs go:๐งต
@DanLarremore @BioFrontiers@CUBoulder ๐Thanks also to @StephenKissler, Yonatan Grad, and @sarahcobey for invaluable feedback. Research is not done in a bubble, and I am grateful for the advising of so many incredible scientists!
As diagnostic testing options expand, so do questions of how to most effectively use them.
โ๏ธ More sensitive vs less?
๐คง Screening vs symptom-based?
โณ Test immediately vs wait?
We developed a model to estimate the costs and benefits of these tradeoffs.

This work would not have been possible without the advising of @DanLarremore! We began this as a rotation project 3 years ago in the IQ Bio program at @BioFrontiers@CUBoulder, and it has grown through the years.
