i once heard someone say “if there are 12 Nazis in a room and they ask you to have dinner with them and you agree, then there are 13 Nazis in that room” and i think a lot of people fundamentally don’t understand that. but it’s 100% true.
The idea that old people aren't anyone's responsibility, that is so pervasive on this site, is so nuts to me. Old people are vulnerable and feeble just like children, caring for them is part of the circle of life.
@GeraltOfTotnes@hr_unhinged When my hubby died, boss gave me time off off the books. She was amazing, supportive and its made a difference in how I do my job. No way 3 would have been enough. I love that woman just for that!! She’s also a good boss so that helps. But the world needs way more of that.
Hear me out: we make new “Amish” towns, but instead of 18th century customs it’s just the 90’s forever. There’s Blockbuster and Pizza Hut, and no social media (but you can use AOL instant messenger).
