With spring in full bloom it is a spectacle to see all the vibrant pops of colour throughout the Millennium Garden and woodland.
Our tearoom is open for takeaways and outdoor eating, enjoy a variety of refreshments including made to order toasties or delicious homemade bakes.
Apricots tend to be hand pollinated as they bloom very early in the year, when weather is cold, damp and windy. This prevents flying pollinators from visiting the blossom and getting the pollen from the anthers to the pistil.

The 'Lucy Lou' has striking white flowers held on lax trusses with contrasting black stamens, and this pink flowered 'Cilpinense' has delicate pink blooms that appear to reflect bright light, even on a dull day.

A great way to extend the flowering period of your herbaceous borders is to use spring flowering bulbs. This little crocus appears in late winter/spring as a violet flame above the brown earth. They open their petals on sunnier days, exposing a rich orange carpel and stamens.
Finally some brighter skies ahead ☀️
After yesterday's blue skies and Government update we are feeling a little more uplifted, spring is feeling ever closer - signifying new beginnings and hope.
This little snowdrop was taken by our head gardener, Beccy and it's a beauty!
Castle Hill gardens and woodland, a fun outing for families looking to get close to nature (and get out the house 😅) to make the best memories.
This photo was taken just past Ugley Bridge, a classic game of pooh sticks is always such a winner with children and parents alike!
We love inspiring young (and old!) ones to learn about nature, our garden and woodlands are a huge natural playground. Tags us in your photos and stories, we'd like to hear your favourite places to visit and play!
Did you know that the Triumphal Arch is exactly half a mile as the crow flies from the house at Castle Hill?! It is also a popular backdrop for photographs for many couples who get married at Castle Hill and you can see why, the views across Devon are stunning.
Injecting a pop of colour into the gardens today is this Hamamelis x Intermedia Arnold Promise. Its common name is Witch Hazel and it has lovely fragrant yellow flowers during the winter. Adding some much needed colour to lift our spirits into the weekend.
