Forest restoration work around Mammoth Lakes helped reduce hazardous fuels and improve wildfire resilience across nearly 56k acres of the Inyo National Forest. The project aimed to help protect the town, surrounding forests, and the recreation economy of the eastern Sierra.
Known locally as the “Mammoth Donut,” the project brought together local, state, federal, nonprofit, and community partners to increase the pace and scale of restoration work while building long-term capacity across the region.
