@JdaroThe@Brizgotrizz@stngate@BastiArtGames With HK and SS it's not a big deal as it's not that much, but just wanted to put my two cents how Steam's regional pricing can be also an unfair scam. The prices for AAA games here are horrible, it can be up to 10% of our min. monthly wage.
@JdaroThe@Brizgotrizz@stngate@BastiArtGames So we're not only not paying a bit less than the US or EU as we should, considering our economy; we're paying more. Even after direct conversion from USD or EUR to our currency, we still have to pay more, which is ridiculous. Not many devs are adjusting the prices manually, sadly
@JdaroThe@Brizgotrizz@stngate@BastiArtGames "when done correctly (as i am sure team cherry would do)"
As much as I hate to say this, because I really support and appreciate TC... They didn't, at least with HK. They used the default Steam regional discounts, which are not always fair like for my country.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames And wasn't it stated that backers will get Silksong keys for free, because Hornet as a playable character was one of the stretch goals? It become much more than that, so they could as well offer like 50% discount, but not give it completely for free, if Kickstarter allows that.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames I'm well aware of all that, why do you assume that I'm not? They added the updates/DLCs as they felt that game was "unfinished" on a release. And they could release it as a real paid DLC given how much content it adds, especially Godhome area.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames What? I'm talking about a completely different thing. Maybe let's just agree to disagree, because that conversation is going nowhere.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames a free DLC, we've waited for so long and now they're milking it". I've already seen some comments that with the initial 15$ for HK, pricing it like 30$ could leave a sour taste. Despite we all know it will be worth more than that. You just can't make everyone happy.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames They could also make it not free for backers, as it will be much more than they promised. Same with "DLCs", even 5$ for two final ones would be fine. But that was their choice. If they'd ask more for SS, there would be for sure voices like "it was supposed to be ...
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames So what should they do in your opinion? Reveal the release date a year beforehand, so other devs could adjust their plans? It was known since April that it will be sometime soon, and almost for sure that before the ACMI museum exhibition.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames Ofc E33 could (and prob. should) be priced more. But I see it like a middle finger towards the greedy AAA studios and their failures from the beginning of 2025. Maybe this way something will change for better in the industry - if your price is high, make the game be worth it.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames Yes, but TC aren't the only ones that do it. Look at Terraria, Stardew Valley, and Don't Starve/DSTogether for example. All ridiculously cheap for hours of fun they offer, and still updated since the release. All have loyal fanbase that loves them.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames I.e. generic, bugged on release, boring crap, esp. considering their huge budgets.
Would you say the same for Expedition33, that it's bad that it was so cheap, compared to, let's say latest Assassin's Creed?
@Bluufy0@GejmerAkrobata@TeamCherryGames Considering the real rate and our currency power, it would be fair if the prices were ~ 75-80% of prices in the EU, as western Europe is on a bit different level than us, yet it's not as bad to have 50% like India for example. But for some reason, they don't give a F since 2022.
@Bluufy0@GejmerAkrobata@TeamCherryGames Yeah... For HK and SS it's not a big deal, since the price is low anyways. But for AAA games, the differences can be huge. and 350PLN for a AAA game is like... 10% of our minimum monthly salary, so... 🤡 That's why indies are better.
@Bluufy0@GejmerAkrobata@TeamCherryGames Nope, that means that steam doesn't care for polish player base at all, and the regional pricing can be a bullshit sometimes. Check this out for more info: https://t.co/zhAJkHKbnV
It's a good idea that they have different rates for some currencies, but make it fair for everyone.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames They could charge it more, of course, and probably the sales would be crazy anyway. But it's nice they want to make it accessible for as many people as possible 😊
And with 15m sold HK copies, I guess they know what they're doing.
@SuperTiso@AdamShurey@TeamCherryGames Tell that to steam.
Some of the regional prices are ridiculous, and even with 50% def. discount for some regions, it's still a lot for people there. I've read today that 20$ is ~ 5% of their min. montly wage, or week's worth of meals in their country, so...
