Excited to share more materials I’ve been a part of @NewsAtNESA. Annotated work samples for Stage 2&3 Additive relations noticing students’ working mathematically https://t.co/OdQYxWAypK links well to @aamtinc latest mis[sing]conception re equality v computation strategies!
All the phones went up when this quote went up.
"Young people do not hate math. They hate feeling confused, embarrassed, and humiliated by math."

NSW primary teachers, @NewsAtNESA now have sample maths scope and sequences available to download! One for each stage, they include related content, a tracking grid and blank template to create your own. Check them out. https://t.co/h2xWklatb5
The routine "As Close As It Gets" helps sts think abt relationships bc the correct answer isn't there.

Excited to share my latest publication on noticing and interpreting young students’ multiplicative strategies in their drawings. https://t.co/R7qKiWfSRj @USyd_SSESW
Your attitude about mathematics will play a big role in shaping your students' attitude about mathematics. Their attitude will shape their identity with mathematics.
Be open, vulnerable, honest, and curious. It's far more important than being correct and loaded with strategies.
@HumanEd_Au Explicit teaching doesn’t need to be ‘teacher telling’ and doesn’t need to start the lesson. Sometimes the best place for explicit teaching is AFTER Sts have explored a concept/problem. I love using launch, explore, summarise. I also really love the term ‘intentional’ teaching.
A dedicated page for collecting "Oops, I forgot..." tasks is now live!

The landing page gives a brief intro and links to this post (https://t.co/Q0tIKGLOmI) with more context.
Submissions welcome to grow the collection!

Manipulatives do not have meaning. We attribute meaning to them, based on our interactions with them. Need to ensure that Ss understand that one manipulative can be used to represent many concepts. Is it about creativity & diversity in thinking.
