CAP was proud to meet the unique needs of military families this summer by providing two free week-long arts camps for Blue Star Families. Children of military families often face disruptions to their learning and social development due to frequent moves and parental deployments. CAP makes efforts to address these unique challenges by providing these families with consistent, high-quality arts education. Supported by @KidsHopeJax, CAP’s Brave HeARTs program provides military families with the opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of arts experiences and academic learning. In week one during Music Exploration camp, students were building fundamental music skills through engaging exercises in rhythm and percussion using hand drums.🪘🥁

In week two during Dance Exploration, students learned dance fundamentals, unlocking their potential as movers, thinkers and creators. ����

They will also be working on melody, strings and voice this week to spark joy and nurture their creative spirits.🪘🥁

This one-week summer camp runs from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., for rising 3rd through 5th graders. This session titled "Art Around the World," includes a themed approach to developing the foundations of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media. Classes will be held at 4001 Hendricks Avenue, 32207.

CAP’s arts integration programs, which we call Art Smarts, integrate the arts with learning, offering a unique approach to increasing students’ understanding of academic standards.

For three years, CAP has partnered with Abess Park Elementary School to provide its third graders with theatre instruction to enhance their English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. This approach has produced phenomenal results, providing strong evidence that arts integration helps pave the road to success. 💪😊
