In the past 10 mins I read a FT article on polish women using condoms, a friar debating a designer 1500 or 2k phone and a catholic praising assisted suicide. It’s grim out there, I am essentially a religious prepper now.

I just want to say that my Step mother chose MAiD because the alternative was likely choking to death because of the effects of Parkinson’s. I understand and appreciate that for some it’s a moral or religious issue but for my Catholic family we believed and still believe God understood my step mother’s decision and welcomed her into heaven. It’s very hard for me to see the narrative around MAiD become what it has and generally from ill informed positions. Unless you have watched someone you love suffer a degenerative illness and be in pain every single day, I don’t think you get a vote.
There is nothing more heartbreaking than watching a loved one lose themselves to disease. There is nothing more painful than having to reconcile with their choice to end their lives. But that’s exactly what it is. Their choice. My step mother ended her life on her terms surrounded by love and grace. I’ll forever be grateful she had that option.

I’m going to poll the mob on this question.

Should I upgrade to an iPhone 18 or iPhone Duo?

• My current phone’s battery is wrecked so it warrants replacement.
• I currently have an iPad Air 11” that I can deprecate from my workflow if the Duo is close enough to an iPad Mini.
• I actually need a MacBook instead of an iPad for serious work when I’m out of the office these days (has to do with applications I’m stuck with in my workflow) so the iPad has become mostly a leisure device with limited productivity value.
• Is the difference between the iPhone 18 Pro and Duo worth the price point difference in my situation (I would need the ~0.5T option).
• I don’t care about the camera differences.
• Most of my out of city travel is short enough that I would rarely need to bring the MacBook anyway. Most casual work can be done on a phone, it’s just easier doing it on an iPad because of the larger screen size, would a Duo be sufficient for this comfort feature?
• Effectively can a Duo replace my current iPhone + iPad setup now that I’m no longer a heavy iPad user for efficient productivity purposes but have become more of a casual user of the iPad with minor productivity advantages when traveling?
