Rep. Ilhan Omar fired back after President Donald Trump used his White House Correspondents' Dinner remarks to launch a racist attack on the Minnesota Democrat, declaring that she "ought to get the hell out of our country" and "shouldn't be here."

Omar responded within minutes on X.

"The idiot who runs our country says this but doesn't have the courage or evidence to come after me. This should tell you how low IQ he is. Trump is [the one] who needs to get the hell out of our country because he is destroying it and making us the laughing stock of the world."

Trump singled out the Somali-born Omar while criticizing Democrats, reviving a long-debunked conspiracy theory about her personal life before escalating into a direct attack on the congresswoman herself.

"It's becoming such a horrible and dangerous location that Ilhan Omar, one of my favorites, and her brother, are thinking about moving together, very much in love," Trump said.

He then mocked Omar over a verbal flub in recent speech before declaring, "I'm not surprised because she's a low IQ person, and she's also a very dishonest person, and she ought to get the hell out of our country. She shouldn't be here. She shouldn't be in our country."

The remarks drew no audible laughter from the audience. Instead, the ballroom fell quiet as several attendees visibly shifted in their seats with palpable tension before Trump continued.

Trump also claimed Omar was being investigated for fraud and criticized revisions to her reported net worth, though he offered no evidence for either allegation during his remarks.

The attack was one of several aimed at Trump's political opponents during a White House Correspondents' Dinner speech that frequently abandoned the event's traditional self-deprecating humor in favor of personal grievances and partisan attacks.

Omar's response quickly spread across social media as supporters condemned Trump's remarks and shared clips of the tense exchange from the ballroom.
