Nebula Award winning F&SF writer/editor/teacher. Most recent book is WINGS OF TABAT; upcoming is ALL THE PRETTY LITTLE MERMAIDS. Sometimes I swear. They/she.
Here's the 24 events coming up for the Rambo Academy fo Wayward Writers this month. Check out my Patreon to join one of the liveliest F/SF/horror writing communities around. https://t.co/dAiulEWiTY
Please consider getting a library card, even if you don’t use it much. Cities look at those numbers, and they help keep libraries open, funded properly, and safe from budget cuts.
A Daily Reminder: If Bernie's Social Security bill was enacted in 2021, Elon Musk would've paid $2.9 billion more in taxes, Social Security would be solvent for 75 years, benefits would be expanded by $2,400 and 91% of Americans would pay $0 more in taxes.
Scrap the damn cap.
Exactly correct. The billionaire class is an economic tumor that has metastasized to every major organ in civilization in search of growth at all costs. The primary characteristic they share is psychopathy—they see humans as disposable objects. They are eating us alive.
Already pre-registered for the Nebula Awards in Seattle next year, because the @sfwa team did such a stellar job this year that I know it'll be an amazing time.
If you want to push back against tech’s encroachment into every corner of our lives, you need to be reading books. They’re keen to create a world in which most people are illiterate & addicted to slop, a world without poetry, imagination or knowledge. Reading is resistance.
If you think I’m trashing MAGA (whatever that is now) I really am sorry. I know for certain there are millions of Americans who voted for Donald Trump that love this country and love their neighbors and love their families and struggle and succeed and fail just like me and you and everyone. And I don’t begrudge them their political affiliation in any way. I just abhor the hate. The meanness for the sake of being mean. No matter where it’s coming from. I’m not your enemy man. I’m really not. They’re trying to get us to fight among ourselves while they pick our pockets and piss on our legs and tell us it’s raining. I’m not doing that to you and I sure as hell know you’re not doing that to me. What could we possibly gain by hating each other as they walk off with all the food on the table. We can disagree with each other without hating each other. We just all need to break the algorithm man. It’s so much more fun finding a reason to love someone than it is finding a reason to hate them.
At the Nebulas and having a great time. Really happy to see that SFWA has brought back the special reception to honor the spouses and partners. That was something that had vanished after I left and I was really sad to see it go.
Excited to say I've got a reprint of a favorite story coming out in @NathanToronto 's Bullet Points! I originally wrote "Hoofsore and Weary" for an anthology of military sf. The main character returns in "Every Breath a Question," which came out in Beneath Ceaseless Skies.
WTF timeline are we on. Someone called me the MAGA whisperer and I’ll gladly take the title. Left, right, D or R we all want the same things. We’re being divided on purpose by the Epstein Elite Oligarch class because as long as we’re at each other’s throats, they get fat and rich off of our misery. The second we figure out we agree on more than we disagree, they’re done. Love your neighbor. Be yourself. Radical honesty. No fucks given, no fucks taken. Everything else is just noise. (But still fuck Jake “Brick Tamland” Tapper on any time line)
"Trickle down economics doesn't work, so let's try piñata economics. That's the one where we beat the billionaires until the hoarded wealth falls out."
