My stance is regardless of treatment "allowed" with others in the law, we should err on the side of abstaining when it comes to image-bearers under the New Covenant.

Also, it is intriguing to note it as optional and compare that to Jesus noting Deuteronomy 24 as a concession Moses made due to the hardness of heart of the Israelites.
