I guess if nobody is paying attention to you then you have to find some way to change that. Making dumb attention-grabbing pronouncements would not be my advice to remedy that problem however.

By the way another really dumb thing someone said recently was that Kamala Harris should be ineligible to be president because she had no children. Several former presidents did not have children including George Washington https://t.co/TRWSLEWE8M.

A similar argument was made 20 years ago that a candidate should not be allowed because he never served in the military. In fact, the Constitution does prohibit current service members from elected office, but has no requirement that someone be a veteran.

And this is why, disappointed Clinton supporters that called for the abolishment of the Electoral College after she won the popular vote but lost the election in 2016, we need to have the College in place. Because there is a lot of time between Nov and Jan and things happen.

Seeing several MAGA mouthpieces starting up with stuff like “if Democrats believed in democracy they would make the candidate that won the primaries run for office!” Inane nonsense on so many levels. First, nobody is forced to run for office any more than you are forced to vote.

But if the presumptive nominee has withdrawn and freed their delegates, those persons then get to “vote their conscience” and vote for whomever they want. Just like the Electoral College, which was created for just this circumstance.

If someone on January 7, 2021, had bet me we would be at the point where we are today, I would not have taken that bet out of reluctance to cheat some rube on a sucker prediction. Now who is the sucker?

Um, not that I want them, but weren’t there supposed to be like protests and stuff today? I thought I remembered someone predicting that a few weeks back.

And, like a guy selling meteor protection amulets, the fact that he wasn’t arrested last Tuesday is proof to Trump his warning worked. In fact, MOST people weren’t arrested last Tuesday, threat of riots or not.

So last week Trump warned he would be arrested and there would be riots. Nothing happened. This week he warns he will be indicted and there would be riots. Predictions?

The prediction is that next week Trump will warn if investigations continue there will be riots. He is clearly trying to coerce an end to his legal troubles by threatening all legal progression with action by his supporters … which is itself possible grounds for prosecution.

Well, there’s the fun part of the 118th Congress over. Now they can get down to “the People’s work” which apparently for the Conservative wing of the GOP means obstruction, finger-pointing and declamation. Wake me up for 119, maybe it will be better then.

The prospects of Presidents Joe Biden, Barak Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton all attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth while Trump sits at Mar-a-Lago and stews fills me with contentment.

My first thought after reading of her passing was gratitude that she held on long enough for Trump and Johnson to be voted out of office. At least we won’t have those two clowns representing their countries at the funeral to come.

Reflecting at the passing of QE II. Seems another erosion of stability, though succession is not in question. But, her irreproachable conduct will be sorely missed. Her reign lasted longer than most of us have been alive. Constancy personified.
