Daniel Naroditsky's contribution to chess will never be forgotten - his games, his commentary, his writings and his teachings! But thanks to the chess community that came together and raised US$ 1.2 million along with the Charlotte Chess Center Foundation two amazing things will happen:

1. There will be annual rapid and blitz tournament that will be held in the memory of Danya with some of the best players in the world taking part.

2. The Daniel Naroditsky Fellowship of US$50,000 for a young American talent has been instated. This will be launched in August 2026 and the winner will be chosen at the start of 2027.

Both these initiatives are related to things that were close to Danya's heart. He loved playing rapid and blitz. And when he was young, he got the Samford fellowship of US$ 50,000 which helped him immensely in his chess career! A huge shoutout to the Charlotte Chess Center Foundation and the entire chess community for making this happen!

You can contribute to the fund and further strengthen it. More contribution would mean more amount for the fellowship and a better annual event every year!

He possessed the strength and understanding of an elite player, but his greatest gift was his ability to share that knowledge clearly and with genuine warmth. Danya educated, entertained, and inspired people across the world and helped countless players feel closer to chess.

The FIDE Excellence Awards are intended not only to celebrate achievement but also to recognise the people who create success stories throughout our chess world. Naming the Best Creator Award after Daniel is a fitting and lasting tribute to someone whose work set an exceptional standard for the entire chess community.

What Magnus has done for the past 10 years... if you perform at such a high level for so long, people start to respect you as the number one truly.

Salut la communauté ! 🤗 On me demande souvent quelle est la meilleure cadence pour jouer aux échecs, niveau débutant ou joueur intermédiaire.

Cette question me rappelle mon premier entraîneur, Fabrice Moracchini, un excellent pédagogue.

Il me disait qu'il fallait jouer des parties d'au moins 20 minutes pour chaque joueur pour vraiment travailler. En dessous, on n'a souvent pas le temps de tirer bénéfice de nos cogitations.
Bien sûr, on peut adapter avec un incrément. Par exemple, 15 minutes + 10 secondes par coup.

Je lis aussi beaucoup de commentaires de joueurs qui s'inquiètent parce qu'ils n'arrivent pas à jouer vite et passent énormément de temps à réfléchir. Ce n'est pas un défaut ! C'est même exactement ce qu'il faut faire !

Un fort joueur peut jouer vite parce qu'il reconnaît des positions sur lesquelles il a déjà passé beaucoup de temps à réfléchir et à travailler.

Alors si vous débutez, ne cherchez pas forcément à jouer vite. Cherchez d'abord à bien réfléchir. La vitesse viendra plus facilement avec le temps. Ou pas… 😅

Comme on peut l'entendre, après avoir rappelé qu’elle « avait du respect pour @MLP_officiel », Giorgia Meloni soulignait qu'il ne fallait pas se fier à ce qu’une certaine presse « faisant autorité » diffuse sur le camp national… Et BFM lui a immédiatement prouvé qu'elle avait raison de se méfier 🙄
